chinese foods anyone?
Amazing how that works, eh?
I remember following Weigh****chers many years ago and then deciding to splurge on an old time favorite. Time and time again, my memory of how it tasted was far different than the real thing. It was somewhat disappointing but really showed me that when you've been away from unhealthy rich fatty foods for a long time and go back to it...it just isn't memorable anymore.
I had the same thing happen recently with a patty melt. A nice deli by the house makes 'em good. Hubby and I got one and I slipped my burger off the rye bread and it just wasn't lucious like it had been months ago.
We did have dinner out last night at an Indian place and I have to say that some of it was quite lucious - most notably the tandori lamb. Tender beyond compare with a great grilled flavor. That with the spicy cilantro sauce...yummers.
Guess we have to make new "favorites" with healthier more protein rich choices? Not a bad thing.

We tried Chinese for lunch, and it was a disaster. First of all, everything on the buffet was either a starch, fried, or had tons of sugar. I ended up only eating one piece of meat, a small amount of wonton broth (without the actual wonton), and some fruit. I would have rather stayed home!
I have had some fried rice from a Japanese resturant before and it went down well as long as I took tiny bits and chewed it into mush.
Hope you do better than I did today!
It did look delicious though.
Take care,
Ashleigh
Thanks for all your responses.I am going to try egg drop soup for sure it sound gross though (the name that is).And maybe chicken with black pepper and make sure the sause is wiped off the best I can.It seems the wetter the food is for me the easier I can tolerate it.I can eat salads as long as I chew and have a fair amount of dressing on it.
I had beef with broccoli (broccoli was a bit undercooked for my early pouch but it still went down okay - heck, I pureed it...LOL!). Recently went to a restaurant called PF Changs (its a chain). Had lettuce wraps (chicken finely diced with diced water chestnuts, shrooms). That was great. Hubby had a great Kung Pao and I had some... lucious.
We are headed for Chinese shortly. Not sure what I'm hankering for!

Three months post op and I had Chinese food tonight for dinner.
I got it as a take out and got Chicken Chow Mein and Beef with Peppers and Onions.
Got a coffee saucer out and put a little bit of both and I ate it and it went down fine. Now, I did burb afterwards but, that is an almost given.
Hope this helps
I was so scared of trying Chinese at first. I've read about pouches not liking the MSG, sugar, fried stuff, etc. I now know I can do Won Ton Soup without difficulty. I have eaten the shrimp and veggies and chicken and veggies. I have had a few tiny bites of fried rice. I refuse to eat an egg roll...I don't want to open that fried door because I used to ADORE the rolls! I think that's all. I never liked egg drop pre-op so I don't want to go there again.
When we go I really try to stick with soups like Won Ton or noodle soup with chicken.
Well, chinese food just did not like me. I had a little bit of fried rice and some crab rangoon.......got sick right away. I actually think the crab rangoon got stuck. Needless to say, I won't be trying it again too soon. Also, NO NO NO to KFC"s boneless honey barbecue chicken, made me sicker than a dog!!! Serves me right I guess, need to be eating healthier!!!
