Bruising

Has anyone noticed they are bruising more after surgery? It barely takes anything for me to bruise now. I've had my vitamin levels checked along with my liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc. Everything was basically fine. My protein and Vit B12 were great, but my iron was a little low. It was higher than it was pre-surgery (I'm on prescription Iron, Vit C and B12) though. Could the lower iron cause this?? Just wondering. I'm starting to look pretty rough! take care, Ashleigh

Yes, low iron (anemia) can be one of the things that causes one to easily bruising. Kathy

Hi Ashleigh! My husband and I just noticed how many bruises I have lately! And some of them look really nasty! Glad it's not just me. Wendy

Ashleigh, I notice this as well! When I went to the doc's he asked if I was taking Iron, I wasnt. I was also very tired and had issues sleeping, all signs of anemia. I started taking a iron supplement and wow what a difference, bruises healed up, I have energy again and I can sleep! Cary

Cary, I'm glad to hear you are doing better! I take two multivitamins a day, each with 18 mg of iron and prescription Trinsicon for iron. I swear, without my Fiber One tablets, I'd never go potty! I don't understand why it's still not enough though. Time to e-mail my surgeon I think. Thanks again, Ashleigh
