Good evening to a May sister!
I'm 10 weeks post-op today...down 36.5 lbs since surgery and 68.5 lbs overall (lost 32 lbs pre-op since mid-February). Definitely feeling great. Trying to get workouts. Having some back issues - had back surgery at the end of March. Anyway, going to physical therapy for my back so that is extra exercise and I walk/jog lightly a few times a week. Need to kick my exercise up a notch. BAM!
Lots and lots of WOW moments since surgery. Everything from the bath towel fitting around me to today trying on a pair of Liz jeans size 16 and having them be too big in the waist. Two other pairs of Liz jeans size 16 were too small for me but the other pair still counts, right? LOL! Being able to shop in the "regular" department is a bit overwhelming but still a WOW.
(My husband will be a year post-op next week and we are going to have a small celebration with some friends. He is down 206 lbs and is below the goal we set for him. He looks great and we actually hope he doesn't lose much more.)
What about you?
Kathy
Hello!
I'm eating pretty much normal food... Lots of cheese, lots of chicken. Don't particulary care for beef except ground beef. Steak and the such has a texture I just don't care for anymore. I'm starting to try salads out - I'm not scheduled to until 12 weeks but my nut said to try them early so I could report back at my 12 week checkup.
Today I had 1/2 carton of low-carb yogurt for breakfast, a cheese stick and 2 slices of Healthy Choice Ham for lunch (Kathy kicked me into gear about packing my lunch again, ) and for dinner, I had a very small slice of Pizza Hut Meat Lovers Pizza on thin crust. That's the first time I've had pizza or even done something I've REALLY considered "cheating" although I'm really not sure it was cheating. 20 Carbs, 250 calories, 12 g of Protein. Not something I'd try very often, but it was nice to eat a semi-normal meal.
My biggest wow moment, for me, is just not having the overhanging belly. It's still there, but it doesn't hang the way it used to. Plus, my DH says I'm sexy (like, every day, he says it, now!)

Hi Brenda,
I'm doing great on this end. What am I eating? Lots of chicken, eggs, cheese, milk and oatmeal. I pretty much eat what my family eats (I cook, so I control****nter our meals around protein but still make sides for my family (I eat a few bites here and there). I've tried doing luncheon meats but they are just too salty for me! It helps if I get fresh from the deli but I think I'm just on deli/luncheon meat burn out quite honestly. I start most mornings with oatmeal/cream of wheat...my pouch likes soft thinks in the a.m. I make it with 8 oz. of 14 g protein milk. I love going to Luby's (cafeteria style food). They have great blackened tilapia and yummy turkey. I get it with soft veggies or mashed potatoes but only have a few little bites of those.
I've lost 50 pounds the last time I weighed. I need to lose 46 more pounds to get to goal. So I do feel accomplished that I'm already over halfway there. I can honestly say I have not been doing my walking since I got back from San Antonio...shame on me! I need to get back with it. I'm a little worried about my life come fall. I teach school and will be a regular working mom with 2 kiddos and I'm worried about when I'll have time to work out. I'm not a morning person so there's no way you'll get me out of bed before 5:30! It's going to be hard. I'll have to work out when they sleep so I don't feel so guilty about missing out on 'their' time. Geez, you got me rambling now!
As far as WOW moments lately for me. I'm 5'2" and have always wanted to fit in petite clothing and now I do! Petite clothing fits small in size then other clothing. I'm a 14 in regular clothes and a Petite 16. Other wow moment, all my side rolls are virtually gone! It's just smooth skin from the side of my breasts to my hips! Good news for me.
Yipee I have a twin! My doc just wants my BMI to be 22-25 which is 120-130. So my goal is 125. Now, the skinniest I ever remember myself was about 10 years ago when I starved myself to get to 135 (didn't last very long there...at that weight I was a jr's size 9...I'm pretty curvy no matter how skinny I get...those hispanic genes I suppose). People said I was way too skinny at 135 but I was quite happy. I guess I'll just wait and see too.
Good luck with your weight loss. I love seeing that scale move. I'm 171 now and can't wait to get into the 160's. Today was my daughter's 5th bday and it was nice getting so many compliments from friends and family who haven't seen me in months. My little boy turns one next month and I keep thinking, "Wow, I'm going to be even smaller!" This surgery is a wonderful tool.
Hi, Brenda! I'm almost 3 months out and (last time I weighed) I was down 53 from surgery and 68 from April 1st. (I lost 15 pounds in the month pre-op.)
My typical day eating wise is for bfast I will have either 2 oz cheese (string cheese or cheddar or whatever I have) or an egg, or this morning it's yogurt, or sometimes I just have hot tea or a smoothy. My pouch can be crabby in the morning sometimes. Lunch is usually cheese (if I've not had it for bfast), or 1/2 a protein bar, or deli meat or (more than likely) a 3 oz can of albacore tuna - sometimes I'll turn it into a tuna salad and eat it with a few Wheat Thin crisps or ff saltines. I will usually have a smoothy between lunch and dinner made with some sort of protein powder, frozen fruit, and either lactose free milk or crystal lite, or low cal juice. Dinner is generally whatever the family is having or something like lunch.
Basically, I eat a lot of cheese (a LOT of cheese), tuna, turkey, some ham (if it's reaaaaaaaaaally lean), and smoothies. Chicken doesn't always agree with me, just depends on how moist it is.
Exercise is sporadic. I walk 3-5 days/week and do weights 1-2 times/week. But not always.
Wow moments so far have been that I'm in a size 22/24 pants (depending on the cut) down from a 32, I'm wearing XL shirts (down from 3-4X), I'm less than 100 pounds to my goal, My husband is loving that I have curves now (I actually have a shape!!), I can wear a belt, hubby can hold me much closer when we hug, and the biggest one - *I* am starting to like me!

Hello Brenda :hi: I had my surgery 5/25, and I have lost 50 lbs, but haven't weighed in a week so hopefully more. I feel great! I guess the best thing is the love of my life telling me everyday how beautiful I am and how much weight I am losing. Seeing peoples reactions is fun. They say wow you are just shrinking away. Of course at 307 I have a lot more shrinking to do..LOL.. I feel good though and this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. As far as food goes my pouch is not liking meat too much. So I am eating a lot of veggies and drinking protein shakes. I had some chicken last night and it stayed down good for once, so we will see.
