Frustrated and unsure

I had the same thing happen when I was about 8 weeks. I weigh myself 1-2 times a week and at that time I had not lost for a week and a half. At that time I found I could eat a whole Budget Gourmet meal for lunch. I think they are like 12oz. I thought that that was way too much and upset that I could fit that much in. I consulted my post-op diet pamphlet that my Nutritionist gave me and it said that from 6 weeks to 3 months after I should be starting at 3oz of food at a meal and gradualy move up to one cup (8oz). I bought a food scale and weighed everything to 3oz, 5oz max if it was high protein. Now I can eyeball it. I also joined a gym and try to excercise 4-6 days a week. I go on the treadmill and do different programs untill I burn off over 300 calories (I burn that much because I know I only eat about twice that a day). After I started measuring my food and excercising the weight has been coming off steadily unless I get my period that week! Also, it has been my personal decision not to have snacks, I have only 3 meals a day. I hope you can use some of the things that I have done. Good Luck!

I think a stall at about 7 or 8 weeks out is normal. I haven't lost any weight for two weeks now and I had surgery a week before you. Anyway, I get in all my protein, water and I exercise every day, so I am certain the scale will start moving again. I know it's frustrating, but try not to worry about it too much. As for the frequency of weigh-ins, I only weigh once per week (usually every Tuesday) and I really don't think that's too much. I've read books (one that springs to mind is "Exodus from Obesity") where the author had WLS and advises post-ops to weigh every day. So, I think the advice on that is all over the map. Do what works for you and what won't drive you too crazy. Good luck! Hugs, Tracy

Hi, I had surgery on the 31st too and I only lost 8 or 9 lbs this whole month. I feel terrible but I am going to join a gym and hope things get better, but I guess everybody has these stalls. Good Luck Teresa

I can't imagine anything more frustrating than getting on the scale!!! I'm very militant about only weighing-in once a month on my anniversary date. This month, I had my annual physical 3 days before my anniversary date and an appointment with my Bariatric a week later. When I weighed in at the Bariatric's office I was p!$$'d to see that I'd only lost 4 pounds in a week. This lasted for 10 minutes while I ran thru what I could have done wrong in my head.... Then I had a revelation.... "You're an IDIOT" I told myself.... 4 pounds in a week!!! that's not bad at all.... Advice to All on this insane Journey.... Keep your eyes on the prize. The detours and speed bumps just keep us from getting bored..... Hugs to all... Kate Z 313/259/125

I think it's your lack of exercise. If you eat low calories your body thinks you are starving and will slow down your metabolism so you will survive until the rescue party arrives. You need to put physical demands on the body so it will convert the stored fat to usable fuel. I know I have skipped more days of the treadmill than I should because of the heat. The only solution is to get out early before it's too hot. Today I didn't dp so and now, at 4:00, I am faced with the heat. I have decided to take a fan and keep it blowing on me during my work out. If you workout in a public place, they make many cheap battery operated clip on fans that are about 8" in diameter. I used one for 14 years when I worked next to a front door made of glass with eastern exposure. Good Luck, Jasmina, Paula 270/218/150?126?
