Protein and the runs!

Whenever I eat/drink something that is really high in protein, it seems to send me to the porcelain for quite awhile. Has anyone else experienced this reaction to foods? I really am trying to take in more protein, but this reaction isn't encouraging me much. Debb

Hey, Debb... Are you talking protein shakes/supplements or food stuff like meats/beans? Can you give us some examples of what you ate and how it was prepared? I know that right after surgery if I had a protein supplement made with carb countdown...I'd be running with the runs. I figured it was a bit of lactose intolerance. But strangely enough I didn't have the same reaction to skim milk. Now more than 2 months post-op, carb countdown is fine with my digestion. Kathy

DEB!! How are ya?? I called you about a week or more back and left a message - did you get it?? I get the runs occasionally when I have my protein drinks, too. Dunno why, but it happens. I've not really sat down and tried to figure out what combination of it does it, but I should so I know how to avoid it! Michelle 340/273/175

I notice it when I drink protein drinks that have very high amounts of protein and when I eat meats like pork or burgers etc. I had my chiropractor suggest that I check out some digestive enzymes to help with the digestive process, but I haven't done that yet. I placed a call to my surgeon 3 weeks ago, and he hasn't called me back yet! The list of questions for him is growing!! Debb
