Hang in there, Michelle. I'm going through my second two-week "mini-plateau" where I haven't lost any weight, so I know know it's frustrating. The scale will get moving soon enough! Hugs, Tracy

Hi Michelle, I had my surgery May 24th and I have only lost 30 pounds. Dont feel bad... everyone says this happens. I am just as depressed as you because I swore up and down that when I had this surgery I was going to be the perfect patient and drop the weight and look like a healthy babe... and here I sit... still big... its so depressing. I started at 283 and now am at 253. I go walking and eat high protein foods and drink the shakes and still nothing happens. I guess we just have to learn to not compare our journey to others. I am here if you need to talk to someone, just send me an email! Big Hugs, Kathy

Dear Michelle, You are doing great... Your May compadres are all on the same page.... It's not fair to look at pounds... It's better to look at percentages... If a 400 pound person looses 50 pounds, that equates to 12.5% of their body weight... Most of us Mayers are between 10 and 20% down... You are close to 13% down... so don't be discouraged. You are right on track. I think we should post our #'s that way... I think I'll post another challenge. Instead of ending a post with your pre-op/current/goal weights, we should add percentage of body weight lost and percentage of goal weight lost. Hang in there.... You are not behind... You are right in the game (not race)... Kate Z 313/263/125 16%/26%

Kate, What formula are you using to figure out your percentages? I must be doing it wrong.... Julie P.S. Where's your updated photo, girl?

Hey Michell, I had surgery May 10 and the whole month of June I was at a standstill. It was very hard to deal with, but now the month of July has been great!!! It takes time for your body to get used to the drastic changes. I have lost a total of 87 lbs. I had to lose 35 before surgery because my hospital I went to required it. It sure has given me a jump start. You are doing fine and trust me..............the weight loss will definately pick up!!!!!!!!!!! Keep doing what you're supposed to, and it'll happen!!!!!!!!

Michelle, I had my surgery on the same day as you & I have lost 34 pounds also!!! I can relate because I have failed at every diet I have ever tried that I will not succeed at this one. My starting weight was 255. What really worries me is I can eat anything and NOT get sick so now I am taking bites of blizzards, shakes, ect. Last week I only lost one pound so I am getting scared. Hopefully like so many other people have written........we can do this & we will get to goal. I just pray I will make the right food choices. I love carbs & sweets/ Betty

Well I had my surgery May 31st and have only lost 20 lbs and I started out at 445. It has gotten a bit depressing, but as we can all see on this message board and others, that people lose at different rates. I was hoping to lose like my sister did after surgery, she lost 1lb a day, but that isn't happening. I also can't have carbs so I thought that that would help things go off quicker also, but it hasn't. I do have trouble getting in my protein and fluids. I have been retaining fluid also and the doctor doesn't seem too concerned, yet. I can eat just about anything that is allowed on my diet. Somedays I don't eat until evening I am not hungry. So don't get down about it I am in the same boat, and yes it is hard not to get down, but that is waht I am being told. Chin up......

Michelle, try not to get depressed. I had surgery the same day as you and had a really bad stall and was loosing real slowly until a few days ago. I am only down 39 pounds, and started nearly 100 lbs heavier than you. Just try to breath. How are you doing on exercise, I find that after I go to the gym, I am down 3-5 lbs the next day. Ellen

Michelle, I know how you feel, before I came on to the May board I was only on the MI board, I felt like I was losing way less than everyone! Truth is I think people who are losing more post more freely, and rightly so they are happy! I noticed from your responses that there are other people out there losing in the same range as you, thats what I liked about the May board, I finally felt like hey I am losing around the same rate as others! Just keep at it, follow the program and next year this time we will be looking at your hottie girl photos! Cary
