Clothing Sizes... It's my Mom's fault...

We were talking (typing) the other day about clothing sizes and since I'm one who ISN'T dropping sizes as fast as others, of course, I've been obsessing about it... I took my measurements the other day and lost more inches, which is great! Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with how things have been going. I'm NOT happy, however, about the hips I've inherited from my mother's side of the family... I come from a LONG line of big butt, HUGE-HIPPED women, and I can blame all my clothing woes on that... According to a couple of different sizing charts, every part of my body is ready for a 16-18 except for my hips, which are still stubbornly stuck in a 22. Now, that means that my shirts, for the most parts are 20-22 depending on cut because I can't wear a shirt that requires a shoe-horn to get around my hips... Anything that fits my hips is a little too saggy at the waist and litterally balloons around my thighs... So, basically, I'm just rambling. I just wanted to let you know it's all my mom's fault...

Believe me, I've blamed my mother for alot of things...size 12 feet, cataracts at an early age (33), tendency to be overweight, etc. I cannot blame my a$$ on her though...she didn't have a big arse, big hips or thunder thighs. Not sure where those came from. Unfortunately, she isn't with us anymore to tease. Kathy

Actually, I didn't inherit anything from my mom directly. She was 5' 2 and built like a bird. But the rest of her family, my grandmother, aunts, cousins, etc., all had the totally unproportionate hips and butts. I miss my mom too, she died when I was 18...

My mother just died in September. I do miss her. Wish she could see me now. Actually her death is what spurred me into having this surgery. She did see my husband after he had lost about 90 lbs post-op. Anyway, I am reminded of her every step of this way. Kathy

Dont feel bad Becky I am not dropping sizes either, I have the proverbial "junk in the trunk" and somehow I doubt that will ever change, my aunt also informed me the other day I have the big legs and thighs of my grandmother! All the women on my mom's side of the family are thick and my mom told me my biological dad's sister was built just like me, so guess I got it from both sides of the gene pool! Its ok though I know I will look better soon and I would rather have a butt than have no butt! Cary

Boy have you got that right, I have no but at all and it is sad to be straight up and down from the back. How ever never fear because all that extra butt, that I don't have, went to my gut!! Oh well. Jane

I inherited 'child bearing hips' as my grandmother calls them and I suppoes thats ok. But my Mom and her family gave me literally no butt! I was pretty flat back there before the surgery and as I lose weight it all seems to be in the butt and chest! Its no good. Ellen
