Ok it's over for now

I had another stricture and had a dilitation - also the stoma was inflamed and irriatited so they gave me steriods in the area to reduces the swelling. Doctor said that it still may be necessary for other dilitations before the stoma is opened adequately. So I guess it is just wait and see. Thanks you for your thoughts and prayers today. I am going to live. I am so happy that I am. SMILE We have a big trip planned this next week so I have lots to be excited about.

Sorry but what exactly is a stricture? I feel dumb asking but people keep talking about them....also how do you know you have one?

Jane, Don't ever feel dumb... we all come here to learn. Strictures are narrowings that block the passage of food going down the GI tract. (Doctor's Guide to Weight Loss Surgery) Usually the result of excessive scarring. It causes difficulty in handling solids and liquids and causes excessive vomiting. They usually have to try more than once to stretch it open. God Bless our WL friends who have gone through this. It has to be agony for them (saying a silent prayer for God to watch over us all). B

Kathy; I am all stopped up - took my meds (chopped in pieces) this morning and drank about 24 oz. of fluids and now I am stopped up - The meds and liquids took me over 3 hours to get down. Sybil

You are probably swollen from the dilation. Call your doctor to be sure! Hugs, Kathy

But then they taste so bad - Yuck!
