Man, I eat a meal that I've eaten a hundred times since surgery tonight. It starts to hurt....then really hurt.....I have to go to a meeting to do a presentation!....it continues to really, really hurt....I slip out...and whoa nelly!....what's this?!? But boy did I feel better afterwards! I wish I knew what caused it!

It's amazing how picky our pouches can be. I had a few days where it just wasn't happy with the same things I've been eating forever it seems. Sometimes eating is such a chore!!! Of course, most of the time it's just grand. Glad you're feeling better.

The two stand things come to mind...did you chew every bite enough and did you just have one bite too many? I've seen my husband do both in the past year. Got distracted and a bite didn't get chewed enough and WHAM...all comes back because that less-than-perfectly-chewed-piece won't fit down and gets stuck in the stoma. Doesn't feel better until it is literally wretched free. Or perhaps eat a bit too fast or too much. When is when, when you have this surgery. LOL! The first hint of "full" or "enough" push the plate away even if there is only one or two bites left. Might not be what you ate but how you ate it or how much! Kathy

Kathy - I think the amount may have been the problem. It was the same amount I've eaten before several times, but for some reason that night, I felt a bit more full and should have stopped about 5 bites before I actually did. That must be it.

Yea, eating one bite too much can put us over. I've caught myself a few times thinking about taking an extra bite when I get that "I've probably eaten enough feeling". Thus far, I've been good about pushing away from the table. I went to Outback last night and got Alice Springs Chicken and a sweet potato (no honey butter, no brown sugar, of course). I didn't eat much so there was lots of leftovers. I had leftovers for lunch and so did Rich. LOL! The meal that keeps on giving. Anyway, I ate the leftover chicken first and then was eating the sweet potato. A few bites and I got that feeling but man oh man it was delicious and there was probably just a few more bites left but I had to stop. Stopping eating when there is more left is so hard. Goes against every grain of my fiber and 44+ years of eating habits. Bad habits but still habits. This isn't easy. And it is indeed a constant learning experience. Best wishes, Kathy

I think it's that time for a few of us!! I've two times this week, both times on chicken of all things. I've eaten chicken (like you said) a hundred times since my surgery, but lately it's just not been sitting well with me! One time was a leftover and another time was in a chicken chili that I made (which was absolutely fabulous - the broth anyway, LOL) and both times - kablooey! Bizarre. I've also discovered that I'm lactose intolerant - never was pre-op. Michelle 340/275/175 (100 POUNDS TO GOAL!!!)
