How has your body changed since WLS?

Girl, it's so the pits. And like I said nothing angers me more than losing 40 pounds and people asking,"well what size were you before, and what size are you now?" and having to give the same number. Lol. Maybe 20 more pounds and we can brag on our dress size. Morgan

Morgan, I think thats because some of us "hold our weight" better than others but no fear new sizes have to be just around the corner! Cary

I am so with you on that one. My first weight loss was on my face and chest. I was slightly irritated and frustrated. My problem areas are my stomach, butt, and thighs. I started off losing 9 inches along my chest, all I can say is I liked my chest before and wanted to come off down there and not on top. Well, like they say its always in the spots you least want to lose that it goes off first. I have noticed that since I do alot more toning exercises targeted mainly for my lower problem areas, it has really toned in for me and I don't see the jiggle that I had before. I'm still big, but it's slowly coming off. Maybe this way I won't have a bunch of sagging skin. I can dream can't I. ---Sabrina Still extremely pear shaped and even more these days!

Well, I have reached the point I am just jiggling along like a bowl full of Jello. LOL I am like the rest of you lost lot from the waist up. And eventhough I have lost a lot from the waist down the excess skin is already showing pretty prounounced. I am not the type that enjoys wearing briefs, girdles; however, found that I must. My husband says my butt is going fast - I don't check it out very often. Smile!

Thank you all soooo much. You can't imagine how this post has helped me! I'm down 48-50 pounds (fighting with a few back and forth, grrrrr). I've lost like 7 inches in my waist and still wearing the same clothes!!! Of course I have lived in stretch denim for the last 10 years of my life so I guess thats part of the reason I can still wear the same things. One good thing tho... something I have waited my wehole life to do... I dry ALL of my clothes!! I have been hanging laundry so they wouldn't shrink up on me... now I am anxious for the to be a bit snugger. I'm more jiggly... and I can see my jaw line (thought my face was dirty the first time I noticed!). Do you think some of the reason we get smaller on top first is because everything is heading south? Hehe You know, the skin drop thing! Anyway, y'all are God sends to me... Love, Barb

I've lost most up top, but I have lost quite a bit on the bottom as well. I guess maybe I've noticed it more on top is a way to say it, but my bottom has always been the larger part of me. My hips were 62" pre-op. I was wearing size 32 jeans pre-op and am now very comfortable in size 24s and on top I was 3-4X and am now in mostly XL. I guess since my bottom has always been so large, it is still large (have huge thighs - see my profile), it doesn't seem to be getting too much smaller, but going from a 32 to a 24 is huge. Thanks everyone for your responses. Looks like many of us are in the same boat. What prompted my question was that I went to Kmart the other day and tried on several pairs of capris in size 2X. I mean after losing 50 pounds, I should be able to get into them right? WRONG. It wasn't even close. Those things were "TIGHT"!! I was so upset that I cried in the dressing room. I'm grateful for the weight I've lost because many of my aches and pains have subsided, but I'd still like to "see" the weightloss a bit more. Know what I mean? Anyway, no more trying on smaller clothes for me until my current ones are literally falling off! Thanks again. Hugs, Tracy

I did the same thing as you in the dressing room! I tried on some size 28 jeans on my birthday (I started at size 32), because I just KNEW I had lost enough weight. I couldn't even get the @!%% things over my hips! Don't despair though, it was only about 2 1/2 weeks later that I could squeeze into them, 3 weeks for them to fit right, and now they're getting loose. Remember, guys, a lot of us were "squeezing" into our clothing before surgery, maybe because we were in denial about going up yet another size, or for convenience sake because we didn't want to have to go out and buy more clothes when we were just going to lose weight anyway. So, maybe we truly HAVE gone down a couple of sizes without realizing it because we weren't wearing the right size to begin with!

Tracy, Speaking of clothes falling off, this morning I had a falling underwear experience. I was running late jumping out of the shower and putting on my bra and undies. It was just me at home so I decided to make a run for my bedroom. Well midway down the hall my drawers slid clear off and around my ankles. I got so gosh darn tickled and cant wait until my clothes start falling off... I had to go into my PCP for blood work this morning and on his scales I was down 84 pounds. I still cant believe this is really and truly happening to me. What a hoot!!! Hugs from Laura

I've lost 55.5 lbs now and my face, wrists and feet all look thinner, I've lost nothing off my big boobs and very little off my waist. Where did those 55 lbs come from? My skin is looser, but, that is about it. Still pretty much wearing all the clothes. They fit me better though! Lori 384/328.5/170
