Concerned...
I am a little concerned that I am eating to much...I had surgery 5/25/05. So far I've lost 44 pounds, no complaints there. BUT I am affraid I am eating to much at a time.
A normal day for me~
Breakfast~2 scrambled eggs with a slice of low fat cheese and salsa.
Lunch~cup of low fat yogurt and some fruit (blueberries/strawberries)
Dinner~4-6oz of chicken (however I made it that day) and a couple bites of a veggie?
Snack~no sugar fudge bar or Ritas sugar free water ice.
Throughout the day I also have a glass of 1% milk (sometimes 2) Some days I through in a protien drink...
Give me some opinions? Does this seem right or to much?
Thank you!!!!!
Shaun
Well....that does seem like a lot but you know our surgeons make our pouches differently. I had my surgery on 5/12 and I can only eat about 1/2 of what you are eating, sometimes less. My pouch just won't hold it all and besides I just can't handle eating much.
You weight loss seems right on track though. My suggestion would be run it past your nutritionist and see what they think.
Keep up the good work!!!

Shaun,
Doesnt sound too out of line to me, someone on the MI board posted a link to a page about taking care of your pouch. In it it said a meal should not exceed 1 1/2 cups which would be 12ozs. I have been using this as a guideline. Also, just think back if someone had told you here is what you get to eat today, would you not have freaked and thought I am going to starve on that!
Good Luck and if you get real concerned talk to your doc they know best!

I agree with Jaimie, everyone's pouch is different. What are you supposed to be eating at this stage. I'm on 3oz meals, 3 times a day. I don't measure every meal, but I at least measure a couple times a week to make sure my "eyeball" didn't grow.
I'd check with your doctor and/or Nut and see what they think. If they're happy, then don't worry about it!

I eat til my pouch tells me that it is content. Sometimes it seems I can eat 4 oz or even a little more. Other times, 2-3 is more like it.
I have 2 protein supplements (30 grams protein each) and 3 meals a day per my surgeon.
I think you are doing fine. Realize that as time goes by you will be able to eat more.
Kathy
If you are chosing healthy foods then the more protein and water you take in the faster you will lose, looks like you are doing great to me. In fact I am envious because I can barely eat with my stricture and ulcer. So far my blood work is good and I am not defecient which tells the doc what I can get down I am making awesome food choices. Seems you are doing the same so just keep up the good work and if you are concerned that you are taking in too much at ONE time then cut it back and add an extra snack or meal in there. Way to go girl!
