Okay folks, from where are you getting your new temporary wardrobes? Pipe up with ideas for cheap clothes! I cannot closet shop, since I had long since gotten rid of everything that didn't fit. Two friends have given me hand-me downs - one donated some 24/26/28 pants before I had surgery, and more recently another gave me a bunch of XL and 1X tops. I've picked up two pairs of pants from clearance racks, one from Lane Bryant and another from Target (I think both were $9.99 each). I just received my eBay purchase of three pairs of pants, two in size 24 and one stretch pant in 2x - that was $15.99 including the $7 shipping charge. I'm going to hit the Target and LB clearance racks again soon looking for 22s and maybe 20s - cropped pants are going on clearance now, and I love crops because I can wear them as regular pants! (my inseam is 24.5") Next are the thrift stores... it's hard to find plus size clothes there, but I can wear regular XL knit tops now. So where are you shopping/scrounging/trading?

I checked out a local plus size consignment shop last week and was so disappointed! Everything - what little they had, was terrible. Then I went to Burlington Caot factory and bought two great blouses (2X) for work at $12 each. Next I went to the Vanity Fair outlet in Darmouth, MA - This place is loaded with bargains! I actually bought 4 pair of lee stretch twill pants (20 long) for $5 a pair!! Brand new - $5 a pair! Better than any deal yet!! I haven't checked to see if they have a website or mail order, sorry. It looks as though all us May babies are seeing changes and changing sizes at the same time. Congratulations to us all!

I'm trying to stretch it as far as humanly possilble. I don't even like buying clothes, so it hasn't been hard. Plus, even though everything's getting pretty roomy, nothing's threatening to fall off yet (at least from my work clothes). When it comes down to it, I'll probably hit the thrift stores and my local support group clothing exchange.

My support group swaps clothes, and I've not hit the thrift store yet, but those within my support group say there's some good plus sized clothes there. Wal-Mart is a good place, too. I've gotten a few tops there for like $6/each. Michelle

My local support group has clothing exchanges too. BAGS and BAGS of clothing have come from there. I also look at the clothing exchange on here..have you checked it out? http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/clothingexchange.phtml

I'm closet shopping and they're getting rather roomy. I probably won't get anything else until they're literally falling off of me. St that point, I'll probably raid my mother's closet because she wears sizes 20-22.

There's a thrift shop near my house. Monday's are 1/2 off everything in the store! Found two pairs of jeans for $1.75 each! Bad thing is, the jeans are not in order, you have to dig thru them. I just started at one end and worked my way to the other end of a long rack of jeans. And, there's no dressing rooms. So I just held the jeans up to me and judged by that.

I still have clothes in my closet. Pre op I was a size 22/24 bottom and a 24 top. At seven weeks I got into size 16 and 14/16 bottoms!!!!!! And size 16 tops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooo thrilled. By fall I won't have any clothes left in my closet. The smallest size I have is 14 (and I only have three outfits in those) I will also be going back to work, so a lot does depend on what kind of work I'm doing too!!!!!!!!!! The Michigan board just had a get together. 53 WLS peopl showed up with their families. It was a total blast!!! We had a weight loss of 6,381.50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, they had a clothing exchange there, that was fun!!! We "shopped" for our next size!!! Laurie 262/213/135 - ONE pound away from 1/2 century mark

Some of my clothes are getting baggy, but then I've always worn things as baggy as possible. My TOPS chapter has offered to bring in clothing from their closets for me to wear until I move to the next level! I suppose I should have been measuring, or I should go try on something at the Wal-Mart so I'd know what size I'm in now. But I'm not ready. Shannon in WI
