Update Re: Pain
I posted last night about the annoying burning/stabbing pain in my upper left tummy area. Finally at about 1:30 am, I couldn't take it anymore and drove myself to the ER. I was scared to death I had ruined my surgery, had a bowel obstruction or a leak. They did several x-rays, and gave me some liquid lidocaine for the pain. It numbed everything else and made me nauseated, but didn't help the painful area. Finally, they gave me regular pain meds, and things started to ease up a little.
The ER doctor wasn't sure exactly what was causing the pain, but suspected gastritis and an ulcer. He told me to contact my surgeon early Monday morning, but sent me home with pain medication to control the pain in the meantime. I've been on a bland diet today, and didn't get any relief until I filled my prescription. I plan on getting up early and making that phone call. I'm still really concerned about what it could be, but not as alarmed as I was last night. I was pretty freaked out to say the least.
I'm still taking my Pepcid and Aciphex to prevent ulcers.
Thanks for listening! I'll update again after I hear from my surgeon or go to my appointment!
Take care,
Ashleigh
