Protein
Theresa,
Ultimately it's going to be your preference, but all I can say is don't give up. In the past 2 months, I've been through stages, and here's what works for me:
1st 2 weeks: ISOPURE ready to drink, WORLDWIDE ready to drink (cappucino)
3rd week-GNC chocolate protein powder, with skim milk
Weeks 4 to 6- LOVED the SLIMFAST chocolate Royale for the low carb diet
And then about three weeks ago I found NECTAR fuzzy navel! I love it! I also like the ANYWHEY tasteless protein, it makes a great banana smoothie. Good Luck and Hang in there!
Theresa, I feel your pain. I am lactose intolerant; therefore, that really cuts down on my choices. Can you intake milk and dairy products? Well, I am going to purchase a powder suggested by a friend and I will let you know how it is before you buy. She said that I could mix it with water or CL drinks, or even sugar free cool-aid? I will let you know! Hang in there! Lakisha
See my reply under Lakisha's "May Folks" post. I can usually get in at least 40g without supplements. Getting your protein through food sources instead of liquid is always preferred.
If I do need to supplement, I use the AnyWhey Tasteless Protein or an AchievOne Coffee Protein drink (both avaiable at bariatriceating.com). I had some samples of the Nectar and they were pretty tasty.
My surgeon's office recommends 3 glasses of skim per day as snacks. That in itself is 24g of protein. I also like the Sargento Light String Cheese (50 calories and 6g of protein). If you are looking for crunchy, soy nuts have 10g protein in 1/2 cup.
Explore your food options before resorting to supplements!
Take care,
J
