Because I have virtually no appetite, I know i am not getting in adequate protein. My program through Kaiser does not reccomend use of protien supplements, but I really feel I may need them for awhile. I ordered some of the Nectar Lemon Ice tea from Bariatriceating.com, and was just curious if any of you use it and how well it tastes. I also am horrible about getting in my Calcium ( too many to take) so I ordered liquid calcium citrate it is flavored, but just curious if any have used and how well they taste. I guess one tablespoon supplies 1200 mg of calcium so thats it one swig, pretty easy. please give me feedback if any of you have tried. I am so horrible about taking stuff that tastes yucky!!! -Angie

First of all, I use the Nectar Lemon Tea quite a bit. I like it very much. Some folks like it...others don't. It is not clear like tea like in the picture. Some like to mix it with Crystal Light tea or lemonade. With water and ice works great for me. Secondly, regarding calcium...your body can only absorb about 500-600 mg at a time (assuming you are absorbing all that you take in) so you need to split your dose and take it multiple times a day. Good luck, Kathy

Nectar's iced tea flavor is the only protein drink I use these days. As noted, it looks nothing like a sparkling glass of real iced tea, but it tastes quite good. I like to mix it with 1/2 water and 1/2 Crystal Light ****d tea, peach iced tea, and raspberry all work great). This goes back to a previous thread about the problem you and I are having with eating all of a sudden... I bought papaya/pineapple enzyme chewable tablets and chewed one before trying to eat. The food went down easily, for the first time in a week and a half! I didn't get as burpy as before, nor did I get that vague uneasy feeling in my pouch and throat. I'm going to keep taking the tablets with meals to see if it's a solution or just a fluke. The papaya enzyme helps meats digest quickly. They're cheap, so maybe you could try them? (I bought a bottle of 100 for $2.20 or so from Trader Joe's)

Hey, P Kitty! I take the enzyme tablets after I eat. Boy, does it really help when stuff seems to be sitting there like lead! And yes, they are relatively inexpensive too! Kathy

I've got to get more of these tablets! I took another enzyme tablet before trying to eat some leftover chicken wings... before the hibernation (or whatever) started, I could eat 5 pieces of hot wings, last night I only managed two, and today with the enzyme I was back up to 4. And still no burping! I've even managed to get 70g protein in before 6:30pm, purely from food. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

Hi Angie. First, I want to tell you that you have such a beautiful smile! (just a compliment...not a come on, lol) I'm one of those that can't stand any Nectars...but maybe you'll love it. (I did mix it with lots of different stuff but it just didn't work for me...everyone is different). As someone posted earlier, my dietician also tells me to split the liquid CaCitrate in two doses due to better absorption. I hated the Citrate chewables...so big!!! Good luck.

I absolutely love the Nectar flavors (Fuzzy Navel, Roadside Lemonaide) and want to try the ice tea. That is all I do for my protein and I mix it in with crystal light flavored tea or just plain water. This protein doesn't have that whey taste or ucky leftover feeling in your mouth. It's like drinking a glass of lemonaide or ice tea. I love it. I usually end up with 3-4 scopes of protein a day to get in everything I need and I don't usually have problems with that. For my calcium I do the chewable ones that target, walmart, kmart have a generic brand of. I call them my "tootsie rolls". They are 500 mg a piece and I have three a day. I space them out throughout the day for absorption reasons. They have helped me through the liquid stage as it was a chewable and like a piece of candy. They come in different flavors. I have carmel and milk chocolate. I'd be curious to know how the liquid calcium tastes. Getting it over with in one swig would be great because sometimes I don't remember to get all my "tootsie rolls" in for a day. Good luck with everything. Keep Loosen My Friend, Cathy (Skinny Minnie)

I'm not crazy about the tea flavor, but I use the fuzzy navel all the time. The lemonade is okay if mixed with Minute Maid Light lemonade, but just by itself (for me) it's hard to take. I'm sure the tea would be okay if I mixed it with regular tea, but I've got plenty of powders right now, don't need anymore!! Michelle
