Tired of the spotlight??
I have read several post where people have not to x or y they have had the surgery because they did not want to deal with the negativity. Well I wish I had that option.
I have 3 kids and they have told anyone and everyone that will listen that mom had surgery. I feel like the whole world is waiting on me to fail. About 3 weeks out I had to have a family meeting with my kids and tell them what I put in my mouth is my business and they were not to watch everthing I eat. My middle child was/is the worst. He counts the number of bites (with a baby spoon) that I eat. If it is less than 20 then he fusses that I am going to starve to death.
Anyone else tired of being in the spotlight? Tired of being asked how many pounds today? When the same person asked you the same question yesterday. I don't weigh but maybe once every 2 weeks. I have told people that and they still ask. Ok I am done whining now... Thanks for letting me vent...

I haven't really had any problems like that, although I get a lot of "Are you allowed to eat...?" from my husband, as in, "I'd like to have pizza for dinner, are you allowed to have that?" I just tell them, yes, I'm "allowed", but I'm not going to.
It's the newness, really, they'll stop bugging you once the novelty wears off. In the meantime, each time someone asks you how much weight you've lost, just say "I'm not sure, but I feel great, thanks!" and smile. After getting the same response 2-3 times, they'll get the hint.
I've not really had that kind of experience. My son asks me all the time if my tummy is still small, but other than that they don't really watch what I eat or anything. Except when I'm eating protein bars, my son constantly asks me if I'm full because he knows he gets the rest of it when I'm done. People will ask me how things are going and occasionally how much I've lost, but really, not much.
Kat,
I do get the feeling that people are waiting for me to fail, but, not because they say that, but, because everyone is so quick to share stories about people they know who had the surgery, lost a lot of weight and then gained it back. Freaks me out! Because it is my fear, since I've never been successful on any thing before...scary.

I know exactly how you feel, Lori.
Apparently, the person who worked in my position a few years back had the surgery too. Several of my co-workers ran into her last week, and they keep talking about how horrible she looks, and how she looks like she never even had WLS. Then, they look at me!!!!
Now, they're always careful to add something like, "oh, but I used to catch her eating all kinds of stuff that she shouldn't have been eating...not like you, you're doing great!"
Like, I guess it's supposed to make me feel better to know that they had HER under a magnifying glass!
Anyway, I'm just trying to stay focused. Everytime I don't want to exercise, I remind myself that I want to get into good new habits and lifestyle choices because I don't want to re-gain my weight later. I'd hate THAT more than I hate exercising!

Julie,
Thanks for your insight. I'm also going to use that motivation to get me exercising! I don't mind exercising, but, getting me to go do it is another matter. Your idea to remind yourself that you need new good habits and lifestyle choices so you won't re-gain is excellent! We'll give these folks examples of people who were successful with WLS and stayed that way!
