What was your starting weight? Was it between 235-275? Has the weight loss picked back up yet? How often are you exercising? Do you experience fatique, still? What stage diet are you currently eating? How much water and protein daily? I have heard there is a "stall" around 4-8 weeks, do you attribute the slow weight loss to this? Thanks for your replys.

greetings beejay.. I had my surgery the day after you; I started at 291 and the scale does NOT move, HOWEVER, I have had to get out some smaller sizes (including underwear!) and I feel confident that I am loosing fat instead of muscle. I just don't weigh myself anymore... angela

It has been slow for me. I lost 25 pds the first month then nothing for 3 weeks, now I have lost about 8 more in a week. It was a sudden drop kind of thing. I was way bummed when the scale didn't move for THREE WEEKS when I was eating practically nothing. A two year old eats more! Anyhow, I seem to be losing again. It is silly but I want to lose 2 more just so that I can say to myself that I lost 10 the second month. I know it is rediculous but I need the validation for doing such an extreme procedure. Maybe what others are saying is finally getting to me. Anyhow silly or not these are my true feelings.

Hi Jane, I noticed you are in Moorpark. I live in North Hills, and I work in Westlake Village. Where did you have your surgery? I lost 25 pounds before surgery, and now I'm down 35 since surgery. I still weigh everyday, but I don't get upset if it doesn't move, or if it goes up a pound. I know water and having irregular bowels can really make a difference on the scale. I feel better every day, so I just focus on that. I know in my head I want that scale to go down, down, down. But I keep telling myself that it will happen, in time. Waiting sucks. Take Care, Deanna 322/262/160

I know how you feel one of my co workers made the remark... "I lost 24 lbs in 6 weeks on Watch Watchers, and you lost the same with WLS, I think I made the smarter decision"....now I'm wondering if indeed I made the right choice.

Beejay, Just remember this, she may have lost 24 in the first 6 weeks, who will be continuing to loose in the following year? Who will me more likely to keep the weight off and make life changes that will stick? YOU are

Beejay, The difference is you won't gain it back...has she?? We have a built in safe guard. I used to eat a 12" subway sandwich with no problem at all. I had about 2" yesterday and was stuffed. Your work mate can go back to stuffing herself if she desires but we will have to remain small eaters. A good thing. Jane

My starting weight was 253 (BMI 52.9, I'm really short!). I'm now at about nine weeks out, and the gym's accurate scale read 227 today. That's not exactly an impressive loss, even by conservative estimates. (I don't consider myself a lightweight, not with that starting BMI and a total of 130 pounds to lose) I'll drop a few pounds, hold that weight for a couple weeks (frequently gaining some water weight back), and then lose a few more pounds. Very frustrating, to put it mildly. Right now I'm trying to fight my way out of hibernation mode - I had a good appetite until about a week ago, and since then nothing tastes quite right and I've had zero appetite and little energy. I'm trying to up my calories to about 800, but with no appetite this has been extremely difficult. The inch loss has slowed down, although it hasn't stopped entirely (yet). I try not to compare myself to others, but it's maddening to have to fight for every ounce during this "honeymoon" phase. I expected it to be necessary after the first six months or so, but not from day one! My body is just too efficient at retaining fat. I barely lose weight on diets. I lost nearly 40 pounds on a low-carb diet, but it took me FOUR FREAKIN' YEARS. I shouldn't be at all surprised to be a painfully slow loser after RNY, either. (well, at least I'm now lighter than I've ever been in the last decade, so that's something to be happy about)

Hi Beejay! Im Carrie. To answer all of your questions........my starting weight was 291 (Im 5'9" and my bmi was 42). My weight loss has been fairly slow, 31lbs in 6 weeks. I walk 1.5-2 miles 3-5 times a week and just joined the gym so am hoping I will go more. I am ALWAYS tired. I am eating just regular foods, but most of the time I can only stomach soft stuff still. I eat chicken a few times a week and cant do the canned chicken or tuna anymore. I try to get in my 64 oz of water a day, but usually its about 50 and protein I get 70-90 in without a problem. At the 3 week mark I had lost 28 lbs and then gained 8 of it back during my cycle. Was that ever an awful time! No one ever told me about weight gain! So......yes, I attribute the slow weight loss to my body adjusting to all these changes at once and my monthly cycle. Hang in there girl! By the way.......I have been averaging all these "big weight loss's" people have been posting and when you look at the overall big picture....someone who has lost 10 lbs in 13 months......that averages to 11 lbs a month, which is less than 3 lbs a week. So....we are right on track to be losing 2-3 lbs a week.......I think we just get impatient. At least I know I am!
