Can't eat leftovers....
and my fam is getting tired of me leaving it for them. Anybody else experiencing this??? We had chinese and I had got a pint of kung pao chicken which was delicious. I ate about a half a cup or so and than I got my tingle in my pouch and was done. Next day, decided I would have some of the leftovers for lunch, warmed it up and damn near off the smell of it warming. Yuk, asked the fam if they wanted it and was politely told they haven't finished the other leftover I left them. I try to order small and from the kids menu, but alot of times I still have leftovers from that. I was raised to waste food and I guess old habits are die hard, but I just can't stomach leftovers at all anymore. Well the chinese went in the trash.

Deri,
Thanks for the post. I notice that I have been struggling with the guilt of leftovers also. I feel that because I cooked it, or purchased it, I have to eat it...All of it. Just last nite I had wonderful salmon, and as of know, I am still struggling with the leftovers I attempted to eat an hr ago. From here on out, its going in the trash. I know how you feel about wasting food...
Deri,
I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you. I live alone and everything I make I end up having several meals out of since I eat so little. Luckily, leftovers don't bother me. Been alone too long I guess not to.
The worrying about wasting food thing, that has to be over for us now. We can't eat regular sized portions, so we save it for later or throw it away...that is our life now. We just need to do what we can to get the smallest and that is all we can do.
Hang in there!

I have the same problem, and my surgeon actually told me this is very common, especially with chicken. He said he doesn't know why, but leftovers tend to gross us out!
I always have intentions of eating leftovers, but never do it, I just can't stand the thought. Part of it for me is I never really feel good after I eat, so the last thing I want to do is eat what I ate last. Make sense?
I have the very same problem. I have roomates and for a while they were thrilled to go out with me and then have my leftovers for lunch the next day. This only lasted for a while. Now they just politely leave it in the refrigerate until I throw it away.
I found having left overs generally tend not to agree with me. I have tried freezing it and then defrosting it several days later, but even this doesn't work. Now when I cook and can't finish my food, I give it to my two dogs, who have suddenly become my best friends. I use to have that golden rule of never feed the dogs table food, but I feel even worse letting food go to waste. Now my dogs eat very healthy, vegetables and meat. I figure its saving me on dog food.
Its probably not the best solution in the world, but it helps me right now.

My family knows that about twice a week is leftover night for dinner! I try to make smaller portions now, but we still inevidibly have leftovers at some point. Whenever I see them building up in the fridge, it's leftover night. I still throw away a lot of food - I just came to the realization a few years ago that it costs the same whether I eat it or throw it away and it's better for my weight if it goes in the trash.
