I still wonder if I did the right thing? I have a hard time with eating solid foods. I do just fine with soups and liquids. I can eat salads now which is a blessing to me. I don't have any luck eating fish or chicken. I truly believe I will end up being a vegitarian. I do feel very deprived not really hungry just missing foods.

I know how you feel Roxanne. I was not eating anything well. But, I found out that I had a complication called stricture. I've since gotten that taken care of and am much better at eating foods. However, at this point (because I've not eaten food for the longest), I don't even wat to eat. I had/have the same fears as you about being a vegitarian. I've gotten pass the missing foods stage though. I don't even want the foods I can have. Hopefully, that stage will pass for you as well. Check with your doc about your solid foods, it may be stricture. Good luck! -D.C.

Roxanne, Hi...and I do truly feel your pain. I also cannot tolerate chicken or tuna, I get a terrible pain in my chest, but I can tolerate, chopped meat, steak, and pork and salad. I make a chili with very fine chopped meat, red beans, and chili seasoning and a can of chopped tomatoes...yummy!!! I was shocked when the pork chop went down so easy....I have had it twice, but I guess things can change. I hate the feeling of a brick on my chest, but I continue to try. Head hunger is a killer at times.....in time we will be able to eat more of a variety. Boca has some great products that taste very good. The burgers are great. I hope that as time goes on, and we start to shrink, that great feeling of losing weight will start to replace some of the other thoughts (the regretful thoughts)..... Janean

I am having the same problem. I did have a stricture, but I had two EGDs to repair it, and it's been much better. However, I can't keep any solid foods down...soft foods like cheese and refried beans, yes...but solid foods, no such luck. I'm not sure if it's the type of foods I'm eating, if I'm eating too fast, if I'm eating too much, or if my stricture is back. It's a frustrating process!

Hi Roxanne, I too am right there with you. I am wondering about having a srticture even thought I don't really know what it is Time to hit the books again! I just keep going back to yogurt and soup but I am getting so burned out on that. I sat at Arbys today with my family, thought I could nibble on the ham from a sandwich and almost fell to tears because I truely miss food. And like I've seen on another post, food that I used to love just taste horrible to me now. Sigh... I often wonder if the regret phase is going to end... I was told no salad, no raw veggies for 6 months. How do you know what to follow???? My doc and dietician don't even agree! Best wishes, Barb

My doc and nutritrionist both told me - No salad or raw veggies for 4 months. I do miss them both, but I'll get to have them again someday.

For me, I have found I can tolerate pretty much anything I try. I am at the "soft" food stage but I have tried, chicken, tuna, steak, cheese and no problems whatsoever. Sometimes I wonder if it is a blessing or a curse. I can't imagine being sick all the time. If you need to, please feel free to email me. Hugs
