Stabbing pains!
I had a pretty rough night last night. For the last couple of days I noticed a stabbing pain in my gut right around my belly button. My incision line from open RYN is about 2 1/2" above this. I first noticed it when I would get in the car. It would be a quick pull, and OUCH! I also noticed when I would walk, every once in awhile it would feel like something was pinching me at the belly button area. Last night I woke up with lots of stabbing and burning pain. I laid there for several hours trying to decide should I go to the ER. The pain finally started to subside so I waited to call the doctor's office first thing when it opened.
My luck would have it that my doctor was already gone for the 4th of July weekend. I did get to talk to the on call doctor who stated well, your organs and things are moving around in there and its probably your internal sutures your feeling. His suggestion a warm cloth or water bottle and some Ibuprofen.(which I had to remind him that I was not allowed to take since the surgery).
Still having random pains when I move. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Hi Sabrina,
I had similar pains, just to the left of my belly button. One night I, too, almost went to the ER. Well, my doctor told me the same thing your doc told you. I am thinking this is where our intestines were reattached. I was told to walk and to rock to relieve the discomfort and it helped. Seems the gas gets caught in there, tho I will say this is not like any gas pains I've ever felt! I also got constipated once since surgery and my doc told me to take milk of magnesia. So if your bowels are not moving very well you might try this.
Our bodies are new. I hope your pain subsides and you are able to enjoy your weekend. Remember rock and walk ...hehe

You also could be getting an adhesion - scar tissue attaching itself to your intestine or something else. I had that after my C-section (7-1/2 years ago) and it can be painful. I'd check with your 'real' doc when he gets back from the holiday - or if it gets really bad over the weekend - go to the ER. Don't jeopardize your health!!

Sabrina, I had some very severe pain right around my belly button and just to the left of it for two weeks in my second and third week post surgery. I was afraid I had a hernia, but after visiting my surgeon she explained it was where they had cut through one of my stomach muscles to put in the drain. She told me it might last about two weeks, and that's exactly what it was. I'd check with your surgeon as soon as you can just to reassure yourself Best wishes!
