WHAT THE.........I give UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok.....I'm getting ticked!!!! I have been stuck at the same weight for 5....count them...........5 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost 30 pounds the first 2 weeks and NOTHING since. Thats one heck of a platue.
I get on the scale every couple days and it says the same thing. I could walk more and drink more water, but darn....it can't make that much of a difference that I dont lose ANYTHING. I'm 7 weeks post op tomorrow. I just dont get it. I'm sooo confused and frustrated. It makes me sooo sad like I'm going to fail AGAIN! I'm really afraid that I'm not going to be able to lose this weight. I wanted to be down 75 pounds before my 30th Birthday on July 22nd. That sure isn't going to happen.
I'm sorry I'm complaining....but you guys are the only people I can talk to about it because no one else understands. My family just doesn't get it.
Don't get me wrong...I'm happy that 30 pounds is gone, but shouldn't I have lost more? 5 weeks is a long time not to lose anything at all. I just don't get it.
Thanks for listening. Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated. I need help with this mess!!!
Thanks, Depsy
Hiya Depsy!
From what I've heard you may be taking in too many carbs. Go back to the basics. Measure your food, protein, protein, protein and no pasta, rice or bread. Eat very little fruit also.
I get frustrated at not losing any weight in 5-6 days, I can only imagine how you feel. My doctor said they are lookiong at a 2 pound loss per week. Even tho the bulk of the weight may come off in a week or two they still measure over the whole period since surgery. 30 pounds in 7 weeks is 4.28 pounds a week... and that is terrific.
The nagging feeling of failure sux but it is all we've ever known. Try to keep positive and keep moving.

I'm sorry, Depsy...I know it's frustrating. I've gained weight twice. I can't complain too much, as I'm on target for my doctor's goal overall...but it sucks to get on that scale and see it going up and down. My emotions go with it. So, I've decided to stop weighing...for awhile at least. I think weighing at my check-ups is often enough for now.
What does your doctor say about your weight loss? Is he/she happy about it?
How are your measurements doing, are they staying the same as well or going down? My wife's a very slow loser (24 lbs in 8 weeks) and it's frustrating the hell out of her, but her measurements are reflecting a loss, which is helping her cope.
Aside from tracking your inches, the best advice seems to be upping your protein intake to 75-90 grams/day if you're not there already, and just holding on as best as you can. It's a long process for some people, which isn't any comfort if you happen to be one of them, but hopefully it'll kick in for you sooner or later.
Yup, I agree with the eating more protein/less carbs thing. It works for me. Here's a post from the main message board that might help:

Good luck, sweetie, you can do it!

Hey Depsy,
I am in the same boat. It seems I have not budged for a week or so and now shows I have gained 2 pounds. I have also stopped my blood pressure/diuretic medication. Two weeks ago I remember crying about the same thing......low and behold over night it seemed the scale moved 5 pounds. I am hoping it does the same again. I see the surgeon in two more weeks and do not want to be disappointed. I have lost inches as I can no longer wear my rings. I had to put them away for another day.
Do not give up, think positive, my mother always says, "the weight was not put on over night and it will not come off over night either". She too went through RNY three years ago. So I guess the plan is to hang in there and keep doing all the right things. I will say a little prayer for you to help you thorugh the day!

Depsy,
Your not alone in this. Alot of us, as I have read in the previous posts have felt the same frustrations. I too am at my five weeks and have just lost 32 lbs. I constantly ask myself what else can I do. I want it to come off quickly. You read about people dropping 49-60lbs in the first several weeks, and start questioning yourself.
I have had alot of great advice from several people in this support group that have reminded me to keep my chin up and remember everyone is different you can't measure yourself up to others. (easier said than done, natural instinct is to do just the opposite). I just remind myself, I am loosing inches and the sometimes slower is good because the skin can bounce back and possibly decrease the chances of need plastic surgery to get rid of all the extra skin.
I think everyone has given you good advice, increase protein, decrease carbs, watch fat intake, drink at least 64 oz of water, and daily exercise. Things will hopefully work out for you. Take a deep breath and relax, before you know it the scale will be sliding in the right direction again.
