To those wondering how I am...

Hi. My surgery was May 23rd. I left the hosp with a sore throat that lasted until June 12th. In that time I was only putting one bottle of water in the G-tube a day. June 10th I had to have an IV for dehydration. I felt so so so sick all the time. I was told that the IV would make me feel better, but it didn't. I started putting protein shakes (glucerna for diabetics) and 1 bottle of water in the G-tube per day. I still felt weak and sick all the time. I took wee tiny sips of water, but my pouch recoiled and I was nauseous so I stopped doing that. On June 16th my surgeon told me that I HAD to use my mouth more than the G-tube or I'd acutally forget to swallow. He told me to start back on liquids, crystal light and water all day, every day, and report back in a week. The next day, June 17th my PCP told me I MUST start eating, and ordered me to have one spoonful of babyfood each hour on the dot, with water, and to sip water all day. Since last week Tuesday, I am feeling much much better. I"m not strong enough to go walking yet, I"m still not getting enough, but i'ts a milestone from where I was. SO at five weeks out I"m down about 30lbs. Not too shabby eh? Keep praying for me though. I have to start using protein powder and I'm so afraid of gagging and retching cause I know I'm eating it... I"m so wierd. Blessings, Shannon
