Honesty poll
OK, here's the question, just out of curiosity:
How many of you have HONESTLY made it thus far without cheating at all.
I'll start. Yes, I have cheated. I actually took two small bits of a carb works pizza this past weekend. The crust is very thin (almost like a cracker which I have been cleared to eat) and the bites were small, but deep down inside, I'm sure that this isn't what my doctor wanted for me when he said pureed and soft foods.
Yah, I tried to cheat. Had a few licks off a McD's Ice cream cone. I regretted all night. Only had about 2-3 tsps full tops and hated how I felt. Sugar doesn't set with me. I have read in many of the different posts others also being able to indulge. I sometimes think about it, but that is as far as it goes. I am still at the stage where most foods disagree with me.

I admit i have cheated too. I have been pretty much cleared to eat anything I want except carbs. I have eaten a few crackers and a couple of chips. I don't really feel bad because I could only eat a few before I felt full where as before I could eat a whole bag of chips. I also ate a terriaki beef stick. Thought it would be ok because of the protein. Boy was I wrong I had my first dumping episode. I think it was because of the fat. Oh my I never want to experience that again it is horrible.
I feel so much better reading this !!! I'm supposed to be on pureed until July 4th....started eating solid food last week. LOL I haven't eaten anything sugary but HAVE had some baked, low fat chips. I've also been watching the fat. I just couldn't stand trying to puree chicken any longer...and I got sick of cottage cheese and baby food. Feel much better on solid food.

I just did that yesterday and I was very surprised because friday july 1st I go on solids and since we had been out with some friends at a water park and I forgot my foods, I attempted to eat 1/2 a sandwich which it was tosted bread w/ ham only and the first bite got stuck, this was the first time I felt like it would come back on me but it didn't, I had to eat the rest very slowly and very very very small bites and I found that with less than 1/2 I was full, trust me will not do that again, its my fault for forgetting my food and I dind't feel like getting out and driving somewhere. But this was my first time only a week away so I think I have done great.
Every time I see something tempting I think of the ending result and that keeps me from cheating
Have a great day ! Mary S
I haven't really cheated, I don't think. I would love to have some chocolate right about now, before surgery I would not care one way or the other but since surgery it seems that that's all I think about candy, french fries and hamburgers. I was even tempted to try the sugar-free chocolate. Has anyone tried any of the sugar-free candy, ice cream or cookies yet?

Heather,
One problem I have is that it seems all our doctors (or nutritionists) are giving us conflicting information on what is permissible to eat! I haven't been banned completely from carbs, but, I'm supposed to only choose foods that have less then 10 per serving. I'm on the soft/pureed foods too. My cheat has been popcorn! I haven't tried to eat much of it at one time and it hasn't given me any trouble. But, at my support group meeting the other night, we were told that popcorn was not permissible until 1 year after surgery...yet, I know many folks on this list have eaten it too, with one woman recounting how she was scolded by her nutritionist for admitting it. I don't know what is right, I just know I'm eating a whole lot less and a whole lot healthier then I've eaten in years!
