Question for ladies:PMS
So, my doctor said that following the surgery my female problems should lighten up. I find they are even worse than before. I have the worst cramps, back aches, etc...The doctor use to perscribe me pain medication to help with it. They use to be so bad I would not want to get out of bed and they would last for a week to week 1/2 before actually getting my cycle.
Now I have all that plus severe stomach problem and intestine problems. I feel sick all day and night. The only thing my doctor allows me to take is over the counter liquid tylenol. That just doesn't cut it. I was wondering if anyone else has these problems.

I wish I was given something by my doctor to take. He is very conservative and does not want me taking any pills what so ever. The only thing he states I can take is over the counter Liquid Tylenol. If I even began to take enough to make a difference I would have to take the whole bottle, that's not going to happen. The stuff tastes awful.
I am going to call my doctor's nurse in the morning and see if she can set me up with something else. She is a woman and knows how I feel and can hopefully persuade him into giving me something else.
Thanks....good to know I am not the only one in this...
After my first RNY my periods and PMS made me almost homicidal. Even though I don't need them, my PCP put me on birth control pills and they help. You may try going to your PCP or OB/gyn, explain your situation and maybe they can help. I have taken pamprin on occasion, cut it in half, so its not too big. I read the label and they doesn't seem to be any NSaids in there.
Good luck,

My last period put me out of commission at work for a half hour. I just couldn't function. Like you, my surgeon only allows that nasty Tylenol. It helped a little. I ended up reverting to all those things I did as a teenager when I had cramps from hell:
I turned off the lights in my office, put on my soothing sounds machine, laid flat on my back with a heating pad on my tummy (thank God I work at a hospital), and concentrated on not moving at all while I relaxed those muscles for 25 minutes.
Even then, the cramps stayed with me (less severely) for the rest of the day. On the bright side, I only had it for three days, which is unheard of for me (normally 6-14 days for me...that's right...14 days, or half of my life). I'll take one day of cramps from hell over 14 days of bleeding like a stuck pig myself. Hope the shortened version lasts!
I, too, took my liquid Lortab and it helped. I'm out now, though. I'm starting to have the same problem again as my cycle is due again (it lasted 2 weeks last time, even while on the birth control patch). Having lower abdominal pain and my lower back is killing me. My husband has been rubbing my back with Icy Hot or I use a heating pad, but it isn't as effective in my opinion. Like you, Tylenol does diddly.
