I WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAN I DO TO MAXIMIZE MY WEIGHT LOSS I WANT TO BE UNDER 200LBS BY THE END OF SEPT WELL SEPT 21ST MY NEXT APPOINTMENT. I HAVE STAYED AT 239 FOR THREE WEEKS NOW WHAT CAN I DO I STARTED LOSING WEIGHT I STARTED AT 270LBS.
OOH BY THE WAY DON'T GET ME WRONG I AM THANKFUL FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS I JUST WANT TO START LOSING MORE.
TRACEY,
Hey Tracey, I know what you mean. My surgery was on May 9. I've lost about 30lbs so far, 20 of which were during my first two weeks. For the past couple of weeks, I felt like I was at a stall. So I started working out more and having at least 2 protien shakes a day. The weight is moving again. It's not coming off as fast as I would like, but when can we ever say that we lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks??? I know I can't, so I try to be happy that the weight is coming off at all. Firgure it like this, we're loosing an average of 5-7 lbs a week, at this rate we'll have lost about 100lbs by the end of the year. That's a DARN MIRACLE!! So saying all that, don't worry, you're doing great.
hi tracey i have only lost 37 lbs since surgery. I talked to my dietician and she said to up my protein. So now i am trying to do more protein shakes I just can't eat much regular food so there is not much protein coming in that way. I hope it works because I have a few goals that I want to meet too. i ma thankful for the loss so far too I have lost 61 all together but i still have a long way to go like another 190 pounds. I hope to be close to goal early next year. I know i will have to work hard so i hope this up in the protein thing helps. Good luck to you.
I agree with all the responses so far, Tracey. I was loosing very slowly, too. I got REAL mad at the scale and decided to start keeping track of everything that went into my mouth. I went to fitday.com and started a log. I was real surprized at how much more protein I needed per day! So I upped the protein, got my body on my surgeon's eating and drinking schedule, and low and behold I've lost 7 pounds since Monday. So now my total loss is 45 pounds!

Congrats on the 33 pounds Tracey. I'm at 36 pounds in almost 7 weeks and I felt like a slow loser myself but I did noticed that for weeks when I was stuff at 30 I noticed things fit a bit different. I think we all forget that we are building muscle where fat used to be. Think about it: I don't know about you, but I sure didn't exercise much before surgery. Now I do it every day! The exercise not only sheds those fat pounds but it's going to build muscle increasingly over time. We all need to remember that our body is losing inches. I honestly don't measure but I can see my waistline moving. I do take pictures of myself once a month. I did in May for pre-op, June and now I can't wait for my July 10th photo because man I already see such a huge difference. I hate looking at my body in a bikini, YES, a bikini, but hey it's actually fitting now without digging into my skin! lol
Also, remember that we are women and our bodies retain water from time to time. As long as your getting your water and protein in, just keep on moving and that weight will drop in no time!
One last thing, I had a trainer tell me that sometimes you can trick your body into losing more weight by NOT exercising every day. He said occasionnaly (not every day) give your body a day of rest and go back to work the next day. It shocks your body and makes it work harder. My nutrionist was fine with that because she expects me to work out 5-6 times a week. Always ask yours if you have any questions.
Don't know if my 2 cents helped at all but good luck !
I feel like a slow loser too, only because people are constantly asking me "Are you skinny yet?" I swear if one more person ask's me that I am gonna kick them in their forehead. I am constantly having to explain to people that I didnt have magic performed on me, I had a surgery. I guess they are all expecting overnight results (and so am I!!) but it just doesnt work that way! lol I think your weight loss is really great! I was told that if it comes off at a slower rate then it gives your skin time to catch up and lessens the chances of needing a TT afterwards!
I have a doctors appointment this Wednesday and I think I have gained, so go figure that!
Best wishes to you!
Kathy
OMG, how true! My mom went with me on my surgery day. When she returned to work the next day, people were already asking her if I had lost all of the weight that I had wanted to!
Fortunately, I have not been shy about this surgery with my co-workers from step one. Even before approval, people knew I was trying to get this done. Therefore, for several months, I slowly educated them on what this surgery was and nobody has made a stupid comment like that to me here.
People really need to educate themselves on this stuff!
I feel for all of you who have responded, my surg. was 5/16 and I am at 25lbs. way to slow. When I get my protein up for a couple of days then I can lose 1-2 lbs. but its not consistent. I'm doing good on water but struggling with the protein. My doc said to snack on cheese and eat at least 6 meals of protein per day. I'm trying.
Congrats to all of us losers...
