How much exercise are you getting?

Is walking enough? I have been walking 1.5 miles 3-4 days a week and have seemed to have stopped losing weight I am stuck at 294 down from 322 preop, 317 DOS (23 lbs gone) I am 5 weeks post op. but I think it should be more weight gone. Joanne 322/317/294

I try to go to Curves 2-3 times a week and walk 30-40 minutes every night.

I'm walking about 1.5-2 miles every day but have noticed my weight has been pretty static the last 6-7 days. It sounds like it's pretty normal by reading other posts. I did go to the gym today and work with a trainer, she suggested doing 3 days a week of more intense cardio (60-75 minutes instead of my usual 45) and then 3 days of my regular cardio plus some weight training. She said mixing it up and giving your body a breather helps keep your metabolism burning. Becky

I was going to the gym for 2hrs 4-5 days a week; the Dr. said only swimming & walking I am allowed to do for the next 5 weeks. I was doing squats & situps. I also gained a pound since I saw him 9 days ago. So I have plateaued. Its nerve wracking! But They said it will start pouring off soon

I do the two-mile walking tape and that's about all I have the energy for. I'm not cleared for weight training yet. I think it's normal to plateau for a bit somewhere around weeks 3, 4 or 5. I think you're doing fine. Good luck! Hugs, Tracy

Honestly and truly I've not been doing much at all - maybe 30 minutes or so of walking 2 days a wee****asionaly I'd do the bike at the gym. That's IT! But, yesterday my doc cleared me for anything I wanted to do! So, I went and did the bike at the gym for a while and did some walking. I'm planning on doing much more since I know I won't hurt myself, LOL! I'll be honest, though, I despise cardio - I really do. Put me on a weight machine and I'll stay there all day long - but make me walk or do anything that raises my heart rate and I hate it. Michelle 326/288/175

I was very worried about how much exercise to do myself. I kept getting the advice listen to your body. Well that sure didn't help me. Now I go to 3 (45min) water areboics classes a week, one power water aerobic class and walk every day between 1.25 to 1.5 miles. When my body is sore I back down and listen to the advice I was told. I take it easy for a day. Before I started doing this my weight was coming off very slow. Now I am losing an average of 5 pounds every 3-4 days and feeling great. Sabrina
