May-ers... how much can you eat at once?
I think between 3-4 weeks my stomach doubled in size. I'm worried I stretched it, but I don't know...
I was wondering if people might share how much they can eat at a sitting?
Tonight I got a turkey sandwich on toast from a local sub shop, and was able to eat all the turkey from the middle (3-4 oz? several slices worth) and 1 slice of the toast in about 35 minutes. Does that sound excessive? I did feel a little over-full after, but not vomitously so. Oddly enough, I'm still working hard to get my calories up (hence the toast)... am eating about 100-200 calorie meals 4x/day.
Please let us know how your pouchie goes!
cheers,
kate
I eat about 3 ozs at a sitting. I eat 3 meals a day and two protein supplements per my doctor/nutritionist. I get 60 grams of protein from my supplements plus whatever I get from my meals. I'm on pureed foods for the next 4 weeks. Oh boy! I was told to eat proteins first, then produce, then fruit and only then starches. Right now, no bread, rice, pasta. I believe I could start eating crackers along with my protein but I haven't yet.
I eat things like egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, chicken, pork, beef (ground), fish (tilapia and salmon). Everythings gotta be really moist so use marinades, sauces and gravies. Vegies...cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, spinach, etc.
Cheers to you too,
Kathy
Oh wow toast! My surgeon says I can't have it. But hey, I can do the turkey and cheese! I can only eat a max of 2 1/2 ounces per meal. I can eat a 'little' more if it's cream of wheat or applesauce. As far as calories, I don't count mine but I would say I average about 400-500 maybe. I too eat egg, tuna and chicken salads, chicken, ham, some cheese, cottage cheese, turkey breast, milk and sometimes mashed potatoes or cream of wheat.
I do try and drink one protein shake a night. A protein drink might give you more calories maybe if you use real milk?
good luck
I am able to eat about 3 1/2 oz. of eggs, meat, fish, cheese other than that I only add a few soft vegys per week and I don't use protein shakes anymore per my doctor, they were too bulky. He told me to stick with solid proteins. He backed me off of fruit and less vegys trying to get 70 mg. of protein per day. Also, no starches or high carbs until maintenance period. After this surgery we should not be counting calories, but even at maintenance period should never be above 1000. Right now I think I am around 250-300 cal. per day. I was told to up my protein intake and that would get the weight moving.
good luck,
Bonnie
I was around 250-300/day and my nut told me to eat more or I wouldn't lose any weight... that's what starteed this whole thing
I could either spend half an hour of every hour eating my one slice of deli turkey, or I could try to fit in a bit more food for time efficiency's sake... but it's scaring me how well it's fitting in, and how much more fits in than just 2 wks ago...!!
Maybe I should try upping the protein... so hard to do with food; i find the protein foods much more filling than things like applesauce or crackers.
Man I can barely eat 3 oz's I get so full, I eat cottage cheese, 1 slice of Turkey breast or ham (from deli) and am full, I tried today Chicken teriyaki cuz I couldnt get chicken down to dry. Bored of turkey burgers. I only get my protein in no fruits or vegetables, eggs taste real weird to me. I tried ham/bologna salad was ok. 2 small bites & I am done I am eating 3 times a day no shakes. Should I eat more than 3 times a day?
Let me know?
Well I was feeling kinda weak and dizzy, and the nut took one look at my food diary (we're required to keep them) and said I wasn't getting enough calories.
I can't believe that you're getting enough food.... sounds like you're eating like a (anorexic) bird! And supposedly if you don't eat enough you can actually slow your weightloss, (??)
So I had to eat more, AND more often. Carbs go down more gently than protein, maddeningly enough (carbs are what got me here!)
at 2 weeks out I could barely do 1 slice of deli turkey, and now here I am with half a sandwich...
how much of a small container is 3 oz of cottage cheese? I don't have a food scale I have cups.
