Who is plateauing?
Or who isn't seeing much movement on the scale? How far out are ya?
Seems like a common theme in the one month post-ops or so range. I lost 12 lbs week 1, 4 lbs week 2 and 4 lbs week 3 and week 4 has been basically not much of anything. I'm eating, drinking, proteining and vitamining so I know that I'm doing my part.
Who else?
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I've been thru so many diet programs prior to WLS, I refuse to weigh myself more than once a month. This keeps me sane. My scale is up on a closet shelf and I'm too short to reach it without dragging out a ladder or asking my baby (my 14 year old has 5 inches on me) to get it down.
I'm dying of curiosity, but don't like the rollercoaster of daily or even weekly weigh ins...
I'll know tomorrow at my post-op physical if I'm going in the right direction. I can feel that I've dropped at least 15-20 pounds.
Many of the people on this board and the main boards complain of plateaus. As you know, your body does strange things when it fells threatened.
Best of Luck jumping off the Plateau....

Kate,
I weigh myself once a day. Like you, I've been on enough diets to know the ups and downs of things so I easily accept the number on the scale. As time goes on, I may only do a weekly weight check. For now, I sort of feel like a human science project. LOL!
My body is super reactive to salt and carbs so it was not unusual for me to see huge swings in weight in a day or a weekend. Up 5-10 lbs? So, I'm somewhat jaded when getting on the scale if that makes any sense. I just take what I've got.
I have no weight goals by date. I had no clue how fast or how slow I'd lose following this surgery so I figured as long as it looks like I'm moving in the right direction and I'm doing what my doctor/nut tells me...I'm happy.
Heck, I'm already down 53.5 lbs since the middle of February - this includes my pre-op loss of 32 lbs and my post-op loss of 21.5 lbs.
Heck I'm happy even with a plateau. I'm so far ahead of what I was a few months ago!

The scale is a curse. Put it away or throw it away! I weigh at the YMCA once a week. If you are a scale junkie and weigh everyday (or multiple times per day) wean yourself off it. It is much more helpful to go with how you feel or look in photos. Take a picture once a month on the 20th and line them up side by side. It will blow you away.
Have you started any exercise? Just a walk around the block once a day to begin with will make a difference.
Take care,

I weigh daily but not multiple times a day. Got out of that phase many years ago! I'm not obsessive about it either.
I walk daily. Having some back issues so that is it for me for now. Had back surgery in late March and some issues that are reappearing unfortunately.
We will be taking monthly pictures.
If you check my profile and go to my picturetrail...you'll see the monthly pictures of my husband on his weight loss journey!

Hey my darling Kathy,
I use to weigh myself every week and I would lose 2lbs a week. I felt discouraged because i thought that I was suppose to lose more, but hearing a lot of posters say that they lose 2-3lbs a week is sorta normal,I feel much better. I dont weigh myself every week any more, now its more like whenever I get a chance. I went to my pcp's office yesterday and I now weigh 288lbs,YAY!!!!!! The last time I weighed in was the Friday on Memorial weekend and the scale read 294lbs thats 6lbs lost in what, 2 weeks, and thats 40lbs lost since my surgery on the 3rd of May. But again I did lose around 8 lbs before surgery. I have lost 2 pants size and my shirts are looser on me. But what I dont understand is why the top of my body is about the same(blouse size) and the bottom is different? I'm losing more on the bottom then the top! Thats weird.Glad to hear from ya.
