39 lbs in 6 weeks
Hey Melodee, we had surgery the same day! As of today I have lost 35 pounds. I saw my surgeon on Thursday, and he believes that it is right on track. I have asked myself the same question that you just asked, and it turned out that I was comparing myself to other losers. We can't do that. I had a friend who started at 300 pounds and she had lost 38 pounds in 3 weeks, I, on the other hand started at 260, so because I was a little smaller, I'm going to lose a little slower. Keep on Keeping on Girl, and congrats on the 39 pounds!
Hey Melissa,
I'm doing pretty good with the liquid, and I try to get in at least 1 protein drink per day usually at breakfast.and I make sure to eat high protein meals. I can eat pretty much anything, but I am trying to stay away from bad carbs, sweets, and high fat foods. I normally do my protein drink for breakfast, tuna for lunch, and then a lean meat for dinner. I love fried foods, and I still have a taste here and there, but I dont enjoy it as much as I used to. I've had fish, pizza, soup, beef on a stick, tacos, chili, chicken tenders, baked and mashed potatoes,...I try not to snack, and stick to 3 sqaures because I am trying to get out of the habit of always having something in my mouth. I have noticed that during week 6 I am feeling the slightest twinge of hunger if I dont get a solid in my pouch by noon or 1. How about you, what are you eating?
I too had surgery the same as you all and my loss so far is 30. Are you counting the weight you gained in the hospital from fluids or your weight going into surgery? The 30 lbs I have lost so far is from when I went in for surgery - - from the time leaving the hospital I guess I could say 39 lost - but I don't count that 9 gained from fluid as 'real' pounds.
Just wanted to know how everyone is counting.
269/239/140ish??
It all depends on your starting weight, I started at 604 and as of my 3 week check up i lost 50lbs (554.2). Im due to go in for my 5 week check up this wed and to have my G tube finally taken out,(as c3p0 says, thank the maker). Im cant wait to see my new weight on wed.
You are doing a good job, 39lbs avg's aprox 6.5 lbs a week, which is still above the avg diet weight lost per week. Most none Surgery diets are usually 1 - 3 lbs a week. At your rate of weight loss you can loose about 100lbs in 15+ weeks (about 3.5 months) if you stay at the lvl of weight loss. 100lbs in that amount of time is incredible.
Good luck keep up the loosing, and dont get discouraged.
Hugs
I started at 370 before my clear liquid diet. They didn't weigh me before surgery so I really dont know how much I have lost since surgery. I have been weighing myself every 2-3 weeks and so far I have lost 39 pounds. I am thinking because I weigh more, I should be losing faster. I dont go back for a checkup until August 2nd. Maybe I just hoping to lose faster than I am. I have been walking a mile each day trying to get up to 2 is my goal right now. I want to join a gym but I think I am still to self conscious about going to a gym.
Something to remember is, Muscle is heavier than fat. Its a lott heavier. By saying that, i dont mean to discourage you from exercise, actually just the opposite. See right now you are probably working your leg muscles out pretty good, doing a mile a day. What will happen is your muscle is replacing your fat, weight wise, but since muscle is heavier it doesnt fill up as much of the areas your fat did. So a word of advice, stop watching the scale, and measure yourself every other week, Scales can lie sometimes. Eventually sooner than later, you will level out muscle wise, so you will start to notice the scale moving again.
Make sure you drink plenty of water too, you burn fat faster if you do.
Dont get discouraged, you are doing great.
I had surgery on May 17th and so far I have lost 36 pounds 30 the first week then since only 6 pounds. I am doing the big NO NO but I get on the scale everyday and I am so depressed now because I dont see no movement. The doctor told me not to expect to loose anymore the rest of the month because 30 in a week was a bit too much to loose. I started out at 354. I am on full liquids till I go back to see Him on the 24th and so far the only thing I am eatting is instant grits about one and a half packs a day and water occassionally I will have a sugar free ice cream bar. I got to where the thought of jello broth and protein drinks made me rather do without. Has anyone got to this point yet or is it just me???? HELP I am so scared at this point thinking that I have done this all for nothing.
