hospitalized for a week!

Hi there may ops. I went to emergency on friday the 3rd early in the A.M. in extreme pain!! to the point of dry heaving due to pain. Let me say that killed the stomach muscles. If I had a gun nearby I would have put myself out of my misery that is how bad it was. Turns out I had a stricture, an ulcer at the surgery site and kidney stones. I was released on friday the 10th and still not able to get in enough liquids. They had me on rest for the first 4 days I couldnt even get up. The 3rd was my one month post op appt that I obviously missed. I have to go for a check up this week. I am now 5 weeks post op and down only 28 lbs as of this morning. I am on all kinds of meds for my ucler and pain meds. Though I must be honest I miss the demerol. I thought I was doing really well until my fourth week when it hurt to eat and then all of a sudden everything hit me at once. The kidney stones were a blessing in disguise, it added enough extra pain to make me go to ER. Enough actually to put me 6 feet under had it gone on much longer. I was begging for something for the pain and crying something awful. Anyone else go through anything like this? I sure hope not.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear you had these problems. I'm 3 weeks out and haven't experienced anything like it yet. I truly hope you will do better now! Lori

Hey, Sweetness... Sorry to hear of your many issues of late but at least all have been identified and you are being treated for them. I've heard of several folks within the first month or so having strictures already. Unfortunately as we heal scar tissue can close the stoma up.
