I get tired very easy as well! I eat yogurt, cottage cheese, vegitarian refried beans with a tiny bit of sour cream. I am having a lot of trouble getting in protein and water. Water upsets my tummy, but I am drinking gatoraide, juice, and decaf tea, which the doc said was fine. I am 15 days out and have lost 19lbs. I don't see it yet, but my mom and roomies say they notice it, so I guess I will be happy with that. LOL! I love the yoplait light lemon yogurt!! YUMMY! I have been able to tolerate everything I eat except milk and haven't thrown up or dumped yet, whoohoo!! I am walking 30 min ALMOST every day. and when I am done walking, I am just exhausted and hungry! Anyway, thats all for now, ta ta! Brandi

Thanks Brenda. I was May 20 and am down 30 lbs (since the start of pre-op liquid diet on 5/10). I have had NO complications and am getting plenty of protein and fluids. I'm still on pureed for another week, but have had some string cheese, which was just fine. My energy is great, but I need to get in more exercise. It's more of a time issue for me, but that's kind of a lame excuse. Take care, J

YOU READ MY MIND!!! I came on here this morning to post this very same thing, seeing how all of the May Babies were doing - I was even going to title it the same!! Okay, I've had my bizarre moment for the day, LOL! Anyway, I'm just over 5 weeks out (about 35 pounds lost) and I have to say I feel fantastic!!! For all of you younger babies, IT WILL GET BETTER!!! I didn't REALLY start feeling good until about 3-1/2 to 4 weeks out. I'd have a good day here and there, but they'd be followed by 2-3 days of exhaustion and not so good days. I'm now consistently feeling great (I still am somewhat tired a good portion of the time, but not to the point that I don't feel that I can't get off the couch like it was) and I am literally wanting to get up and go exercise (not that I DO usually, but I feel like I want to, LOL) and I just feel overall wonderful!! I have not dumped on anything and I've had crackers, pasta, rice, chicken, turkey, fish, cottage cheese, milk, etc. I've not had some of the other common 'dump-inducing' foods like peanut butter or bread, but I'm going to wait on those until I see my surgeon again on the 21st. I do have to say that it is difficult getting in all the fluids and proteins everyday. I will drink a protein shake (usually the pre-made ones because I've not really found a powdered one that I like) a day or more and try to get in some sort of fish or chicken as it has lots of protein and sometimes a protein bar or something. Power Crunch is good as well as pretty much anything EAS Advant Edge makes. Bariatriceating.com is a super place to get all kinds of good stuff protein and otherwise!! I get all of my vitamins in for the day (a chewable multi-vitamin, 2 chewable antacids (calcium), and a chewable iron, and on Fridays - sublingual B-12) so that's good! LOL! I'm so excited to see how everyone else is doing! Keep this thread going! HUGS~ Michelle

Hi all, I had my surgery on 5/13/05 and it's been up and down through the process. I've had a hard time getting in the protein and because of that I've been very tired and retaining fluids. I went to the doctor yesterday and he told me how essential it is that I get the protein in and I believe him. Just started last night and I see such a different in the water retention. It's still there but not as bad. I had swelling in the hands, ankles and feet and stomach. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. I have no regrets about my choice and I'm looking forwarded to a healthier and slimmer me. Have a great day! Natural Beauty

Hi, Kathy, here... Will be 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. Down 20 lbs since surgery and a total of 52 lbs including my pre-op diet. Feeling very, very good. Was back at work 11 days post-op. Get a bit tired late afternoon but other than that...things are going well. Doing well with my pureed diet (since 1 week post-op). Have eaten: tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, chicken francais, chicken in tomato sauce, turkey chili, chicken in chipotle marinade, pulled pork (no sauce just juice), green beans, cauliflower with cheese sauce, tilapia in lemon herb marinade, salmon, turkey meatballs. I make sure that foods are as moist as possible. I chew all my pureed food as much as I can. Chewing is good for your jaw, teeth and getting practice for when you get to "real foods". You'll know how mushy the food needs to be before you swallow it. Learning good habits is a great thing now! I keep papaya enzyme tablets on hand in case anything feels heavy or when I'm trying something new. I chew a few. It helps breakdown your food in your pouch. I've been getting in my two protein supplements and water without problem. I seem to have some lactose intolerance so I'm avoiding milk products. Cheeses seems to be okay. Kathy

I've been so hungry for cauliflower for some reason but pureeing it doesn't appeal to me at all. This weekend I AM going to make meatballs with sauce and will probably puree them or mush them up really well. You're doing great !!!! Jean Lap RNY 5/24/05 255/239/150 -16

Pureed cauliflower is good!! It's like mashed potatoes! Put a tiny bit of margarine or whatever on it and a bit of salt - yummy!

I puree my cauliflower. I don't make it like complete paste. I pulse it so it still has a bit of texture to it. Looks like you are doing great Jean! Kathy

Suddenly dawned on me that one of the big things in the South Beach Diet (low carb) is mashed cauliflower !!! I think this surgery did something to my brain cells. LOL I've been having difficulty eating and drinking properly because I'm getting bored with the same things. So tomorrow I'm heading out for cauliflower...among other things. ) Thanks so much. Jean
