Frustrated !!
HI gang: I'm two weeks post-op and starting to panic. Every day for the first week and a half I woke up and had lost weight. Yes, I made the mistake of getting on the scale every day. But it was such a blast to see the number go down so quickly !!! All of a sudden, I'm stalled at losing 16 pounds. Now, I'm thrilled at losing 16 pounds....but I see people who had the surgery on the same day I did and they've lost 10 pounds more than me I've always been afraid that I'd have this done and it wouldn't work for me...the same as all the other "diet plans" I've tried in my life. Like, I'll be the ONLY person this doesn't work for. Am I being silly? I get my vitamins in, get at least 64 oz. of protein...I'm not perfect at getting 60 oz. of fluid every day but I'm trying. Am I doing something wrong???? Nothing has made me sick since day one !!

Awww, Jean, don't worry! You've probably read it here before-everyone is different and looses at a different rate. My loss stalled between week 3 and 4. I stayed firmly at one weight for at least 2 weeks. It has finally started up again. Just remember that the surgery is a great shock to your body and it takes a while for it to adjust and keep up with all the loss. There's no way that you won't loose weight as long as you are following your surgeon's guidelines. The surgery works-in 3 months, you'll be so surprised at the weight loss! Keep up the good work, and DON'T WORRY!

Jean,
I'm 2 weeks post op and haven't even pulled the scale out of the closet. I have promised myself to only weigh-in once a month. I've got my post op visit on the 16th and I'm telling the Dr not to tell me the weight.
Wouldn't you rather see good size jumps each month 8-20lbs or 1lb dribbles up and down?
Good Luck...
Your on the losing team now.... no where to go but down....

I'm sure it is your body just taking a "breather". Rapid weight loss...16 lbs in a week or two is alot. It is very common to have a slow period after a couple of weeks. Just be patient! (Easier said than done!)
Keep doing what you are doing...get your protein in, get your vitamins in, get your water in and the rest will follow!

Jean,
I feel ya, sister! I'm at 2 weeks, and I've also lost 16 pounds. 13 of it was in the first week, and only 3 this week. But my clothes are more comfortable, and I'm sleeping in a flat bed instead of a recliner for the first time in 2 years. I totally understand your fears, though. I've felt, and currently feel the same way. Nothing makes me sick, except the protein shakes, and I almost NEVER get the full feeling, so I have to really watch portions. I agree, it's discouraging when others you know have lost twice as much as you, but I have faith that it will all balance out in the end. I hope. Maybe. LMAO!
Good luck to you!!!

Gina: Was sick this evening for the very first time....although I'm not so sure it was the food as much as the fact that I think I ate too quickly and maybe too big a bite. Had a bit of potato with ham and cheese on top....all mooshed, of course. Got ****y and ate quickly...big mistake. Was stuck in the middle of my chest for 20 minutes. So I'm going to be kinder to my pouch tomorrow. And I'm a lot more comfortable having lost 16 pounds...in a smaller size already, can breathe better...so will hold onto that and not dwell on the scale. Thanks.

Don't worry about it and put the scale away! I did the same thing as you are doing. Except mine was the first week. I came home from the hospital and the scale went from 308 to 310!! And stayed there for a few days. I stopped weighing and about a week or so later stepped on the scale and it was 303. Just put the scale away, there is no way you CAN'T lose weight at first (unless you're eating ice cream and cookies all day) so just relax and enjoy the ride!!

Put the scale away and let your body do what it is going to do. I have only weighed in once since my surgery and that was at 9 days out when I had my g-tube out. I was down 17.5 lbs at that point. I will admit I would like to know what the numbers are, but I am not going to drive myself nuts weighing so I haven't. I feel the differenece in my clothes and in my energy level. Now if I could only get what I am suppost to in I would be ok.
