Is something wrong with me?

Am I the only one who doesn't count what she eats or drinks. I sip water all day (about 2 1/2 16 oz bottles) and get in 30grams of protien through shakes. Reading all of the posts, I feel like I should be counting my calories. I have no earthly idea how many calories I'm taking in and only know that I am getting at least 30g of protein. Will not paying attention affect my weightloss? Am I supposed to be having a certain number of calories? I'm just following how I feel. My doctor has not given me any other directives except hydration and 30g of protein. Thanks in advance for your help. Lynette 240/220/120 may 23 Lap RNY

Dear Lynette, Each doc and program is different....at least that's what my program has stressed to me! Relax.......follow your doc's advice and listen to your body. My doc wants me to get in at least 80 grams of protein a day....said nothing about calories! Protein saves the muscles from being digested and therefore enhances weight loss.....because a pound of fat cells only burns 2 calories a day and a pound of muscles burns tons of calories in a day....I wish I could remember the number....I'll get back to you on that. Point being........save the muscle........lose the fat! Good Luck and God Bless! Sally 5/24/05 318/270/48! Whoopie!

Hi Lynette Each doctor and clinic seems to have there own method of doing things - relax and go with the flow (sip, sip, sip!). My doctor didn't give us even any protein maximum/minimum but gave a guideline of what to eat (well drink at this stage) and a transition diet for over the first five weeks. You are doing everything right by the sound of it. Hope everything continues to go well for you. Wendy

My doctor does not have me count calories, but I use Fitday.com to record all my intake so I can keep track of protein, water, etc. If you've never seen it, you should check it out, it's free, and very easy to use. You can also record your exercise in there and then pull reports to see how you've been doing over a week, month, etc. The only downside is, if you want to save or print anything, you have to actually buy the software, but for me it's just a gut-check.

I don't really count calories. I will check in at fitday.com (as someone else mentioned****asionally just to see, but I mostly coun****er and protein. My doc said 60+ grams/day of protein and 60+ oz of water. I'd guess I'm getting around 5-600/day some days, but most days it's probably more like 3-400 depending on the day, but I'm not really concerned with that at this point.

I wish I didn't have to keep track...but my surgeon requires it for now. Jean Lap RNY 5/24/05 255/239/150

I'm not keeping track of calories. Wasn't told to. I was told a minimum of 60 grams of protein from supplements (which is two shakes - scoop and a half in each), my vitamins, 64+ ounces of water and 3 small meals a day.
