Anyone got suggestions for some real food to eat??????????????
I wish I could be more help, but I'll commiserate a bit with you. I'm fine with eating, but I have amazingly picky tastes and there's little that I can eat that I actually want to eat. I've resigned myself to things like applesauce, mashed potatoes, broccoli/cheese soup, and the like. I hate cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta, etc....yuck! I can't wait until 6 weeks post-op when the world of food opens up (non-pureed that is!).
I think its all hard , even after the 4th week and you think Oh1 Good! But I'm at amonth post op and solids seem to not like me sometimes. I'm having a hard time with it! But just think this all will be hind us and we'll eat better and feel better. Just keep trying and find the right foods that agree with you. Don't give up!! Dena
I feel for you...I gave up on the pureeds after about 3-1/2 weeks because I just couldn't take it anymore.
Some soups have quite a bit of protein in them and they're not bad pureed. Refried beans are a good source - any beans really and you can melt cheese in them to make them more protein. Enriched milk alone is good. (Or Carb Countdown milk has 12 g. per cup.) Protein shakes (The EAS Advant Edge strawberry with a banana blended in is good.) Unjury's unflavored can be mixed in with things like cream of wheat, etc. Make your own mashed potatoes with enriched milk. Pudding with the Carb Countdown or anything that you'd normally put milk in, use the enriched milk. (oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc.) It is hard, I know!
