Stricture
I have a stricture. That is why I have been throwing up so much. The doctor put a scope down my throat this afternoon (I saw him at 11am for a follow up and he made the appointment for the scope at 2pm this afternoon) and said that the opening to my stomach had about closed. He dilated it by inflating a balloon a couple of times, at different widths, hoping to stretch it out. I go back to the dr again next Thursday and he will see how things are going. If they aren't any better, he'll do it again on Friday, only with a bigger balloon.
What really stunk was that I was awake. They gave me a double dose of meds thru my IV and I was still more alert than they said I should have been. Said I should have been sleeping. NOPE! My throat is so sore!! They used some numbing spray, but it still hurt.
Anyway, I am exhausted. I am back on a liquid diet for 2 days and then can step back up to stage three (soft foods) and see how I do. We'll know more next week.
Oh, I now weigh (fully clothed, and with shoes) 297.3 lbs. When I was weighed the week before my surgery, I was 323 lbs. Surgery was May 2, so I am doing pretty decent.
I wondered if that's what it might be when you posted earlier about being so sick... I didn't mention it because I didn't want to worry you and you were already scheduled to see your doc... I haven't had a stricture but from everything I've heard, you should start feeling a LOT better now that you've been dilated and hopefully, you won't need to do it again.
Hugs,

Hey Lisa,
I'm glad to know that your dr did the endoscopy after all sorry you had a difficult time with it though I was sleeping during mine. Although I didn't have a stricture like I thought I had the ugly ulcer Anyways now that you've had it done you should be able to eat more than your watermelon After I had my endo the dr put me back on clear liquids for a couple of days the sf pops, water, and I would use the seasoning from raman noodle packs for broth that was yummy Hope you start feeling better sweetie.

Hi Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear about your stricture, but glad the doctor has done something about it. I can feel for you being awake through the procedure. When I had my cardiac cath in March, I told them I wanted "lots" of sedation. I kept asking them, shouldn't I be feeling something different by now? Maybe their idea of sedation is different from ours. Hope you start feeling better soon and your little pouch stays open. I'm still dealing with the aftereffects of my seroma.
