I wanted to see how everyone else was doing. Today I had my one week check up and it went good, but I am having a hard time getting the exersize in, because of trying to get all the protein, liquids, pills, vitimins, script mouth wash every four hours (I got thrash-yeast infection of the mouth ) etc I am worn out and it has rain all day the last three days. However I am going to get out there tomorrow and walk! My favorite protein so far is muscle milk with 37 grams in 17 oz. My favorite crystal lite is orange. My favorite broth is beef. My favorite liquid is s/f popsicles. My favorite part so far was finding out today I have lost 11 pounds in the first week. How about you?

HIYA!!! Congrats on your loss! My surgery was 5/25. I don't have a fav protein drink, I really like the Boost drinks with high protein, but am getting sick of them. I add flavorless protein powder to nearly everything I eat which has been cottage cheese, tomato soup, cream of wheat, applesauce, that sort of thing. I have discovered that rather than beef or chicken broth, I adore Au jou (sp?) with some protein disolved into it. I like SF nestle fudge pops. I have been doing great on my walking, I am rather proud of myself! My bad thing is that I am on the pureed diet for now and I am not doing the puree thing to my cottage cheese, which I am told to. But I am very careful to chew it, take small bites and have had no problems. In fact, I haven't had any problems with food at all, but am finding water upsets my tummy. I am having a hard time getting in enough protein and water, but am drinking it as much as I can. I take naps during the day, which I never used to do, and my muscle pain in my tummy is pretty bad. I don't know how much weight I have lost yet. I have been staying with my mom and she doens't have a scale, but I feel great! Brandi

Hey ya'll! Had my Dr's follow-up on June 2 and am doing GREAT! Down 20lbs and Doc says I'm way ahead of the game! He says the AVERAGE weight loss for a Bariatric patient is 30lbs a month. He also said that all the intense exercise I was doing before surgery was a BIG help! Made my core super strong! I can resume my old routine EXCEPT for sit-up's. He says I can't do those until after he sees me in a month! So July 5th, I'll find out. Love slimfast low carb only 11oz. (no air to upset tummy like other SHAKES) Motts 3oz fruit cups GREAT and refreshing! S/f jello pudding Healthy request soups (diluted a bit more than directed)cream of mushroom/tomato/cream of chicken I have been out to eat twice! Ate crawfish soup(4oz bowl) I ate about 3oz. Only had 3 crawfish tails in it, (I chewed and chewed, NO PROBLEM)! Went to lunch after Doc. appt. with my Mom to an Asian restaurant had rice noodle soup w/shrimp(AWESOME, I didn't know what a rice noodle was, its much lighter than a traditional noodle and digested great)! I am having NO problems w/food or drink. Just really amazed at how little it takes to STUFF me! This is such a cool new way of life! I really feel like I'll be able to eat what I want, It just takes a few well chewed bits and I'm satisfied. Going out again tonight, we can afford it, I'm a cheap date now! Going to Chillis, ordering their broccoli cheese soup, YUMMY! I hope all my "May" buddiies are having as much luck as I am, LUV YA ALL! HAPPy HAPPY HUGGS HUGGS HUGGS!!!!!

Lap RNY 5/23 Doing GREAT!!!! No pain pills the last two days. Dr. said I can drive now. Eating pureed diet too - but don't always send things through the blender... Fish that is flakey & tender I just chew, chew, chew. Eating out - just chew, chew, chew. Won Ton soup was great - avoided bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and the won ton wrapper. But, I think there was about 2 oz meat in there - I stayed full for hours! Talk about a cheap date - $1.25 for soup and I'm stuffed! Favorite protein is still not determined... Favorite broth? That in Vietnamese soup - yummy! Favorite liquid is Crystal Lite - Orange Favorite part so far is weighing today and seeing I'm down 24.5 lbs!?!?! Getting closer to being finished with Lovenox shots - I'm glad of that too! Angela in Oklahoma 288/263.5/140?

Hey guys, I like this. Well, I am doing well. Back-pain from the hospital is getting better. Can't sleep in a bed yet, but in a recliner. What about you guys? I am on pureed and soft foods as tolerated. I am not getting in my protein as I should, but getting in the water pretty well. Eating Eggs, very slowly Chicken leg - only half of it and I'm full Beef Soup - not much of the beef, only a little S/f popsicles, pudding, jello EAS Advantage Edge French Vanilla Protein Shake (1 a day with 15grams of protein) Going to try grits today and we will see. What are you guys using as a protein powder flavorless supplement to add in your foods? I would love to know. Things are going fine, still working out the back issues.

Hi Fellow Losers...Had Lap RNY on May 23rd. I am doing great! One week plus 3 days of Liquid, mostly Boost shakes, SF popsicles, crystal light (definetly Orange Early Morning) and water. Now I am eating regular food. I never had to puree anything, just chew chew chew. I had my surgery at Wesley Long in Greensboro, NC by Dr Martin. I cant say enough about either! 3 of my 5 Lap incisions are healed well and don't even need to be covered. I put Bacitracin and bandaids on the other two. I still have my drain site covered with a 4x4 and tape but can probably change to a bandaid. I have been a fanatic about journaling my diet. And have taken in anywhere from 48-65 g of protein each day. Carb Countdown Yogurt Smooties are packed full of protein with low low carb and calories and taste delicious. They are a bit pricey but everything "low Carb' is. In my journal I also write the weather, my exercise and how I feel that day. Happy Journey to everyone! Jen

I'm late checking in but here goes. 5/23/05 Lap RNY. Plan to start my Walk Away the Pounds tapes tomorrow (Monday). I'm am so jealous of you guys eating solid food. I'm to scared to try. Unjury protein shakes and crystal light have been sustaining me these past two weeks. I guess what they say is true, your body goes through withdrawal then adjusts itself to the new diet. I'm not having any cravings and am just trying to stay hydrated. Down 20 pounds so far and hoping for 20 more by July 10, going to Vegas and the more lost the better. Great hearing from others on my time line. Lynette Hall 240/220/120

Hi Everyone, I had my LAP RNY 5/23/05, and I'm EXCITED to say I'm down 30 LBS!! I've had a problem finding a protien that didn't make me and so far Unjury unflavored seems to be ok. I've been eating mushy foods such as yogurt, mashed potatoes, soups, string cheese (Thanks Tooter for this suggestion), CIB w/ Lactaid milk, Pink Lemonade Crystal Light, scrambled eggs, jello, pudding, etc. Tomorrow I get to try fish- I wasn't into fish before WLS but I'll give it a shot. What I'm really DYING for is a Great Big Crisp Salad!! Good Luck to evryone! and congratulations on your weight losses! Angie ((((((HUGS)))))

Hey Guys... Sorry to say, I didn't know this post area was out there... I had my surgery on May 23rd. I'm doing great. Couldn't get a post-op Dr.'s appt. until June 16th. I refuse to weigh myself until then... I'm trying not to get obsessed with the scale (which I have with other WL methods). I'm still on (mostly) liquid diet. I've set this Wednesday as the day I start to add diced protein to my diet. I'm amazed that I don't feel hungry. I had to train myself to "sip, sip, sip". My 18th wedding anniversary is at the end of the month. It will be the first time I eat out at a restaurant. I was the "Home Meal Replacement" Queen ("takeout") before WLS so I am not allowing myself more than 1 restaurant visit per month. I'll post my numbers later this month... Kate Z
