Oh, P. Kitty I know what you mean about the Carnation Instant Breakfasts! I got the low carb ones and made it with skim milk and it made me nauseous. I could tolerate a little bit of it, but not much. I, like you, didn't vomit, but the pouch (I love your name for her) said no more.

I haven't really had anything crazy... I had one crumb of boyfriend's stuffing, tried some honey-mustard chicken, etc etc... oh, and a piece of broccoli, which I'm pretty sure is a definite no-no too, daffy. (Fiber!) I agree w/ P. Kitty; my pouch likes some of these things better than the protein shakes! It chews and rumbles over protein shakes, but quietly accepts cheese, deli chicken slices, etc. My personal philosophy is as long as you're eating a nutritious diet, it might as well come from real food instead of chemically-treated protein powder... but I'm seeing my doc today so we'll see what he says!

My pouchie doesn't like scrambled eggs! Go figure and I was an avid egg eater before surgery. She likes a poached egg with some cheese and salsa, but just not scrambled. She hasn't been too crabby, either, just on the picky side. I had a terrible time with my intestines before the surgery, I think I had undiagnosed IBS, but now things are calm and happy in there! I think my body was just food overloaded and struggled to keep up with the intake. I like my surgery so far! Down 2 sizes and 30 lbs- Becky Jean

Hi, Becky, I think I had IBS before surgery, too. I had my gall bladder out 12 years ago and have had pretty much looseness since then, LOL! Within 30 minutes of eating ANYTHING I was in the bathroom. Now, I go about every 2 days or so. It's so freeing!! Eggs just don't do it for me now. I don't like them cold and after about a bite or two they're cold and icky. Maybe later I'll try a boiled egg and see how that goes.

HI, I am glad you posted about ibs because I had my gall bladder taken out like......in the mid to late 90's and have had loose stools ever since. I was wondering with the gastric by pass if that would straighten up? If it does....YIPPPEEE!!! I will be sooo happy. BTW I am kinda new here but got my surgery date yesterday for June 14! How was your guy's first week? Did you still have cravings? When can you eat solids? Just give me the "skinny" on it all Glad to be here!

The other thing that bothers me is milk products. Other than that... all I've tried thus far are good. I haven't ventured too far yet though only been on pureeds for a week. I've had: chicken, salmon, tilapia, tuna salad, egg salad, cauliflower, green beans and turkey chili (homemade). Kathy

Hi Danielle, mmmmmmmmmmm lets see i've been such a bad girl lately!!!! I have to becareful of what I eat only because I had to go into the hospital 2 weeks ago Saturday I thought I had a stricture but it ended up being an ulcer of all things so I have to make a conscience effort to stay away from spicy things Other than that i've been a naughty girl I can eat alo of things at this point tomorrow i'll be 5 weeks out. I'm eating peanut butter almost daily, crackers, cheese puffs (small amount), yogar****ermelon, apples, cheese, puddings, chicken, por**** cream (no sugar added), broths, mashed potatoes, grits, oatmeal, etc. I've found if I don't eat a small amount every 2-3 hours I start feeling nauseated so I try to eat about 5-6 small meals a day. I'm also getting better with drinking my water. Another thing that i've had is a couple of sips of diet soda. Since this was my major love before surgery I miss it the most, and i've dreamed about soda more than food if you can believe that. So I bought a 2 liter diet soda and keep it in the fridge and once a day I allow myself a sip or two of it to keep my sanity So far except the ulcer i've done fine with food except scrambled eggs i've only tried those once and that was enough for me I thought I was gonna die after I ate those!!! Am I being perfect; no, but i'm 5 weeks out and have lost about 50lbs so i'm happy with having the surgery. I've wanted to try some veggies, pasta, and rice but i'm still afraid of those but I might try some green beans next week depends on how i'm feeling and then only one Kriss

Hi, Danielle - I've not had an issue with anything either. I've had chicken, ham, turkey, rice, pasta, potatoes, I'm eating shrimp right now, margarine, ice cream (sf/ff), milk, beans, and I can't remember what all else. The only thing that I've not tried yet is bread and vegetables. I've had apple sauce and peaches and cherries blenderized. No problems yet! I did get some cottage cheese stuck and that hurt like a son-of-a-you know what. But, nothing has made me sick!

I am so jealous of all of you before surgery I had a cast iron stomach but since I had the surgery I tolerate most things like fruits and vegetables just not my favorite things chicken, turkey and fish hopefully this will change soon but if not I still rather be thin without these things than fat and able to eat them. Oh at last weigh in I was down 31 lbs. Gotta love this tool even when things are going perfect.
