Anyone having NO ISSUES with food at all?

I have not yet found a food that does not agree with me. I've had apple, strawberries, ham, chicken, and even some peanut butter.... Can something be wrong or do I just have a pouch of steel?!? It's not like I can eat alot - I can barely get down three slices of deli meat - and I'm never actually hungry - I just eat because I am told to LOL.... Just want to see what some other people are having successes with..... Any crazy foods you have tried??????

Danielle, I have not had any trouble with food except eating a bit fast. My issue is that food does not taste as good as it did before...which is a good thing I guess. Patti

I'm so jealous!! Most everything I eat makes me gag. I tried tuna tonight for the first time and managed 3 tiny bites before I had to stop. Just didn't taste "right". And I can go from "fine" to retching in just a few seconds. I have almost no warning.

Lisa, What a bummer! How are you getting in your fluids and protein feeling like that?

Basically, as soon as whatever comes up, I have to try something else. I've found that if I start with watermelon, the rest of the day USUALLY goes smoother. Why? I dunno. I'm not a "breakfast" eater. I used to eat one meal a day, and that was supper. My pouch doesn't appreciate food until late in the day, so I have to kinda "make" it accept it.

Danielle, I have had NO issues with any food until today.....see my post on Now I Know What Dumping Means. I had a scoop of carb watch sf ice cream today and had to spend 2 hours in the restroom. Not fun! Caren 269/247/???

The things I've tried have been mostly very moist proteins that I'm technically still not allowed yet (steamed pork dumpling, smoked salmon, steamed fish, braised fish, stewed pork, deviled eggs, steamed shrimp, and ground beef), but I've also sampled some Goldfish crackers and a couple very thin crispy crackers that went with the smoked salmon. Oh, and a few pickle spears (just the soft part, not the skin). And a tiny bite of a KFC crispy chicken strip. And a potato chip. And a strawberry and small chunk of cantaloupe. And, um, a forkful or two of Thai rice noodles from my husband's order of pad thai. (all of this was after the first 2.5 weeks) My pouch (She Who Must Be Obeyed) enjoyed all of it, much more than she did the protein shakes and cottage cheese. I had a cast-iron stomach as a pre-op, so I'm not surprised. You want to know the ONLY thing that my pouch didn't like? It was something on my official list - SF Carnation Instant Breakfast with skim milk! (I'm fine with milk, but CIB tastes disgusting to me now) It didn't make me sick, but my pouch indicated that she would prefer I not do that again, thankyouverymuch. I hasten to mention that I didn't eat any of the above regularly or in large quantities! Well, except the fish, which made my pouch exceptionally happy. I can eat an entire small butterfish, which has only 3-4oz of meat on it (19-25g of protein). Much tastier than a protein shake. Yum, I love fish and am so happy my pouch is loving it too...

I've actually been very similar. I was getting soooo sick with the Carnation. And it was just SO disqusting tasting after the first week. I had the worst gas pains too, even with lactaid milk. I tried things early too. Just made sure I chewed the heck out of them. I've only had problems with one thing, a baby food item. My pouch just didn't like it, it felt like I was having a freakin heart attack lol I "got rid of" the offender and felt fine.

I don't think it's just the Carnation... my pouch isn't crazy about anything chocolate or vanilla now. I have a canister of Elite chocolate, which was not bad before surgery but is now just too sweet-tasting; Unjury, which I really liked pre-op, tastes so sweet now that I can't drink it! Plain milk, no problem. I've had both regular (skim and 1%) and Carb Countdown (skim and 2%), and no worries. This surprised me, as I've been mildly lactose-intolerant since the teen years and had read that this usually gets a lot worse post-op. So far so good. My pouch hasn't complained, but my tastebuds have been in full revolt mode for quite some time! I *hate* cottage cheese now, not that I was a big fan before. I ate that nasty stuff for the first 2.5 weeks, and never again will it pass my lips... I've resisted trying chili, but tomorrow I should have official clearance to do so. It's time to dust off the crockpot!

I had problems with Carnation too! It is full of lactose. so for all ot the lactose intolerant folks life me stay away. I am araid to try pureed or soft foods although yesterday I ate a peice of a chicken wing (yummy) no problems. SO today I'll try a scrambled egg with cheese.Wish me luck!
