Pills?

Hello all- I know that ultimately, this is a question for my doctor, but does anyone know when we can start taking pills again (if ever?). Surely someone has come across this information in their travels. I absolutely hate crushing pills in that they end up tasting so awful, even if I put them in some protein shake or sf Jello. Dina I was told that I could start taking pills as soon as I got home. Patti

Check with your own doctor and find out what he says. Mine keeps you off pills for a couple of months and then you can go back to swallowing them. Best wishes, Kathy

I had my pills from Day one - I had my surgery on May 18. All vitamins, etc. went down fine. I jsut took them one at a time with lost of fluids. I have no idea what will happen aftr fills, however. I'm going to ask today. I had a lap band. I don't know wabout Gastric ByPass Barb

Depends on the pill. Birth control? Check with your doctor. I know I'm still not allowed to go back on the patch (blood clots is a side effect of BC - my surgery was May 2) but my other meds I have been on since the beginning. You can also check with your doctor about liquids. I found that quite a few of my meds come in liquid form, such as Lexapro and Zyrtec. I still have my vitamins (Flintstone Chewables) and B-12 and my calium citrate, but it helped getting a couple of my meds in liquid form.

I was taken off most of my prescriptions..but the ones I'm still on started the day I came home. Some of them I cut up into tiny pieces. Be careful, I'm sitting here right now with 1/2 a Tylenol stuck somewhere in the plumbing I got ****y and thought it would go down. Jean Lap RNY May 24th
