Protein Help!
Hello everyone-
I had my surgery May 13 and I'm having probs getting protein in, I can barely get 30 grams in. How can I get more in!?! I really need to get it, but I'm not so hungry and I don't want to eat if I'm not hungry. HELP!

I've gotten some good advice on this topic. Some of the comments have been liquid protein that is odorless and tasteless that can be added to drinks, hot or cold and cooked with. Also something called whey protein added in a similar way. Go to GNC or a vitamin or health food store. Don't buy immediately. Get all your info and then make a choice. I'm going Monday or Tuesday to do exactly that! Watch your post and learn from those before us. This is your best place for first-hand info...I love this site!
Do you like chocolate milk? Well, if you do, you can do what I'm doing. Get your milk, sugar-free chocolate syrup, and unflavored whey protein. Mix the milk and chocolate, and then add a scoop or two of the whey protein. I do this and end up with a 16 oz. glass of chocolate milk that tastes yummy and gives me 28g of protein. Two glasses of this (56g) and then a protein-heavy meal (with meat or fish) and I easily hit the 70-75g of protein I'm supposed to have. Just a suggestion.
(By the way, if lactose intolerance is a problem - as it is for me - the same works with Lactaid milk too.)
I bought something called NECTAR Whey protein at the Vitamin Store. It tastes really good without the gritty aftertaste of some protein drinks. It can be mixed with a spoon and is liquidy not frothy. I really enjoy it and it comes in some great flavors. You can just sip all day till the 8 oz is gone. It has like 23 grams of protein per 8 0z drink. Then you only need another 7 grams. I also set my alarm to wake me up once or twice to have a swig if I couldn't get it in during my day. Hope that helps. Lynette Hall
Get it in, or your going to lose your hair in or around the 6th month! Your probably still on full liquid so push that protein drink. I use EAS chocholate (from wal mart) with a cap full of banana extract and it goes down. I am on the pureed already and even though I don't feel like eating I make myself. You will lose better with some caloric intake, otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto everything you put in it... its about forcing yourself until your appitite comes back ( 6mo or later). Good luck hon! Shoot for 60 grams at least, you will heal better as well!!! Sip milk (8 proteins per cup).
