Feeling really tired.

My surgery was Monday 5/23, I was home on Wed. I feel really good pain wise. Up walking and partially doing for my kids. Problem is-I'm really tired (physically). Went to store yesterday and could not hang for 10 min. I was so worn out. Is it because I'm not getting any food in? I'm taking all the liquids I can and am not dehydrated. But I just feel bad. Hope this is normal. Can I expect more energy when the FULL Liquid diet begins? Hope so. Thanks, Lynette

I felt pretty tired and sluggish for about a week. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out now but still here and there I feel exhausted. My surgeon's words were: Hello, you just had a major operation! I rearranged your stomach and intestines so yes, you should be tired now and then. lol I think everyone heals differently. Some people are just up and going and some are slower than others. Listen to your body, rest when you can. Oh, I don't think the full liquid diet did anything physically to me to make me less tired. I think everyday just keeps getting better. ana

Lynette, I agree, I was tired for the first week or so...but getting back to my regular activity sure helps...my only trouble is I am going back to work on Tuesday and I have to break my nap habit!!! Patti

I'm same as you but haven't ventured out yet. I would like to go to the grocery Sunday or Monday. I am still some-what sore but haven't taken pain meds since Thurs night. I'm not much for laying around so I am stir crazy at this point. That being said, the inside of us needs time...we need to respect that and slow down. We could very well be trying too soon to resume close to normal activity. There are no medals for who gets up and goes fastest. In order to loose we need to HEAL first! Take it easy, and get your protein in EVERYDAY! HUGGS

My surgery was May 2 and there are times I am still exhausted. We went to a pig roast today (gotta love watching others stuff their faces) and we were only gone 2 1/2 hours, and I sat most of the time, but when we got home I was pooped! I learned the hard way, however, not to overdo and push yourself! I ended up having to sit all day with a sore back and sore tummy! My belly muscles were making me pay for my impatience! Hang in there! You're gonna be tired for a while!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've been saying to my wife lately that I'm so sick of this. I cannot sit in our living room watching TV without falling asleep! I'm fine if I'm up and moving around, or if I've already slept; but man, most of the time, I sit down to watch a Phillies game or Law And Order or something and within a few moments, zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
