Anyone else out there having surgery May 31? My PCP gave me the final ok today. Not sure how I'm feeling ... kind of nervous I guess ... and numb. It's been a long road so it is sort of surreal. Diane

Hi Diane, I am having surgery on the 31st too. I know how you feel. It has REALLY been a long ordeal, but I think the waiting was the worse part. I am kinda scared but so excited. I dread the cleaning out the night before but it will be worth it. I hope everything goes good for you. We will be loosers before you know it. Good Luck Teresa

Good luck to you too Teresa! And about the cleaning out ... I just had a colonoscopy on Tuesday and had to do the cleaning out thing on Monday ... not once, but TWICE! The wasn't so bad - and neither was the first dose of phospho soda ... it was the second dose that I about couldn't swallow. Soon, all of this will be a distant memory and we'll be on to something else ... Diane

l am having my surgery also on the 31st. Getting a little more nervous as it draws closer. l had my filter put in today with no problems. Just a little sore in that area. It has been a long road for me also. Started all of this back in november but hey it is finally here. Good luck with yours. Jolene

Rosie, A filter is placed in the vena cava to catch any blood clots that may break loose. l was under the impression that this was standard but then again it may just depend on you surgeon.

Oh! I guess maybe its the JP drip that they put in you during surgery? I had a JP drip and before I left the hospital they took it out, Thanks for the INFO. Rosie

Hi Rosie. Sorry it took me a couple of days to get back to you. This filter will never come out. Once it is in it stays in. It is a small metal mesh ball that captures any clots if they break loose. Even though it is metal l can still have MRI's done if need be because of what it is made of it doesn't effect it. Good luck on tuesday and enjoy you holiday weekend. Jolene
