Closet cleaning fears

I had replied on Michelle's post about receiving some smaller hand-me- downs from a friend, and it got me to thinking about cleaning out my own closet. Have any of you gone through your winter clothes and gotten rid of them? I was thinking of all the sweaters I have that HOPEFULLY I'll never fit in again. I am going to go through my closet and get rid of my winter clothes. Am I ? I am afraid to do this, what if I don't lose the weight and then next winter have nothing to wear? I realize this is probably an irrational fear, but in the past when I lost weight, a part of my brain knew I would probably gain it back, so I would store the too big clothes in the attic or basement. I don't want to do that this time. I want to feel confident that I will never, ever, ever be this big again. Anyone else feel this way? Debra M.

I'm scheduled for surgery this Thursday (May 26th) and I'm actually looking forward to getting rid of all my "fat" clothes and making room for smaller ones! :-0 Don't worry, you won't need these bigger sizes anymore! Have a yard sale and take the proceeds to buy something really nice in a smaller size! Or....take your clothing to the salvation army or other place. I'm sure there will be several needy people happy to find plus size clothes! Angel

I had the same feelings! My surgery was May 16 - On the 15th I got ALL of my winter sweaters together and gave them away. Once they were gone, it was a great feeling to know I will never need that size sweater again!

I did this several weeks ago...but then realized that 99% of the clothes I have are all smaller sizes..so there wasn't much to get rid of. I decided to wait until next winter to get rid of whatever doesn't fit. Very tempting to do it NOW though Jean May 24th, Lap RNY

Well, I did it. Went through the closet yesterday, and took out all of the sweaters. Purple Heart came by today to pick them up. I have decided to just have faith in the process, and let go of the old. Thanks all for your comments, Debra M.
