Hi all, I am now 12 days post op, feel pretty good I have a question for all you other post ops...I have lost the initial 10lb gain from the IV, and an additional 10 lbs, but for the last 2 days nothing...has anyone experienced something similar? I just worry that I may be one of those were the surgery does not help!!! Patti

For the past three days, my scale has sat at 242. It's not moved or even thought about moving. After reading a lot on this site, I think it's normal though. Our bodies have to get used to living off the limited amount of food we are giving it, and learn to burn fat. Hang in there. We'll all be losing soon! take care, Ashleigh 251/242/140

Thanks Ashleigh, I had posted the same on the Calif Message board and got a lot of post op's who advised me to not weigh but once a week or even get rid of the scale...yeeks I think that is what got me so heavy is not realizing how much I weigh...but I do understand not to weigh each day... Good luck Patti

I am 6 days post-op, and I am not showing any loss other than some IV fluid I withheld. But remember, your body may still be a little swollen on the inside. It will come off. Have you done any walking at all? That's when I started to lose the IV retention - from walking.

We're all guilty of it: Keeping an eye on the scale - too much. I've been getting on it everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Why? Just to torture myself, I guess. Weight will fluctuate, up a couple lbs. one day, down the next, just as it always has. You can't go by your daily (or HOURLY) weight loss. "Let's see, I've lost 2 lbs. in the last 6 hours, at this rate I'll be at goal in 3 weeks!" Get real! Look at the BIG picture. You're not even on a real plateau unless you're stuck for more than a couple weeks. So chill out with the daily thing. The weight loss will come. Enjoy! Joe

I DIDNT GAIN WEIGHT FROM THE IV FLUIDS, BUT I DO KNOW THAT I AM LOSING SLOWLY TOO. 20 LBS SINCE MAY 4TH. THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE GOTTEN IS STOP LOOKING AT YOUR SCALE! DONT WORRY IT WILL COME OFF SOON ENOUGH. JAIME

Hey! I'm only 9 days post op, but I too have not seen the scale move in the last two days either..... I know I shouldn't be weighing, but I can feel my stomach area getting smaller and I'm anxious for the scales to "show me the money". I think we just gotta all pull together and help everyone know.....we are gonna start seeing the results in just a few weeks.

I know it is hard not too look at the scale, I did it 2x last week and I swore I would not get back on until Monday.............that is my day Monday!!! The surgery day the start of the week, everything!!! I can not wait to get on in the morning, I walked a lot today(family outing and 2x around the block) I am afraid I am going to be one of those that can stand more food than others!!! Spicy has not bothered me yet. I am really burpy but no other problems. Who knows, at this point it is so much speculation..slow loser, tolerate sugar, don't tolerate sugar, fat, no fat. We are all getting healthier by the day. Does that help?

Hi All-- We are strictly forbidden to weigh more than once a week! I weigh right when I get up on Sunday morning. I have had at least some loss each week since I started prep on May 2 at 305 lbs. When I weighed Sunday, I was at 264. I threw away a bunch of belts that have gotten too large, and my wife bought me a new pair of sorts size 44, down from 48. I think the rate of loss is different for everyone, and wouldn't get too upset if the pounds didn't just drop off. I am having a lot of trouble getting in all the hydration and nutrition. If I try to keep to the schedule, I puke it all up anyway, so am going a little slower with the approval of my nurse and nutritionist. I'm fine with yoghurt and cheese, also bean soup blenderized, but just can't stand the whey sh*t from GNC, etc. I would rather eat the soup and have it stay down than eat the whey and just puke it back up an hour later. Less protein from the start, but more actually stays down. I have gone back to work and have been doing 4-6 hour days. When I get home I always get a really good nap. Best sleep of the day. Best wishes to all! --Lee

Patti, I had surgery on May the3rd and I have been losing 2lbs every week. I hate it. It was like when I use to diet before surgery, but I would work out 2x day for 45min and eat healthy and I would get discourage because I worked so hard. So I dont mind losing 2lbs a week doing NOTHING I didnt even gain wait from the IV I started to lose wieght right at the hospital. I think that if we lose wieght slowly maybe we wouldnt get to flabby at the end(HOPFULLY) Are you losing inches maybe? I know I am thank God for that huh? xoxoxoxo Rosie
