Losing enough?
I know I'm really being silly by asking this, but I can't help it! I've noticed that a lot of people who had surgery around the time I did, have dropped a lot more weight than I have! While I'm thrilled to death for them, I'm a little discouraged. I've lost 8 lbs since my surgery, and can't tell it at all. I'm getting in all of my protein through either pureed food or shakes, and drinking at least 64 ounces of water, but usually it's more like 80 ounces.
I guess I just need a little encouragement that this surgery is going to work and I'll lose the weight I need to!
thanks for listening!
Take care!

Welcome to the depressing world of lightweights. My start weight was 253, and as of today (17 days out) I've lost 15 pounds. We won't have the dramatic quick results that others do, but we'll get there in the end!
Did you take your measurements before surgery? If not, take them immediately and start tracking them. I've found it reassuring to see the inches drop even if the pounds are determined to stay around. Keeps me sane (sort of).
I can definitely sympathize with the impatience!
My husband took a good hard look at my face and neck this morning, then pointed out all the areas that look smaller. Afterwards I got out the tape measure and held it at the original measurements. A whole lot of happy giggling ensued.
Who needs a cranky old scale anyway?

Hey Ashleigh,
Check the labels of EVERYTHING you are consuming. Watch for all the sodium, calories, sugars. I know we have to watch the protein. But the other things are really important and can sabatoge your best efforts. Watch every single ingredient. If you were exercising before, you need to step it up, you absolutely HAVE to INCREASE your activity if you haven't done so already! This is the tough part...Looking forward to surgery was exceiting and fun. Now the real world sets in and we have to be accountable for the life change we have made. Its sort of like trying to create a habit. They say that you need to repeat something everyday for 30 days before it becomes a habit. I used to be aweful about making the bed. So years ago, I made myself start making the bed the second my feet hit the floor. After 30 days I never had to think about making the bed...I just did it automatically. Its the same with our new eating and exercising habits. After 30 days of doing all the things we need to do...it will all become second nature, automatic. Your going to loose your weight! You didn't go through this for nothing! You just have to be sharp and watch everything you do! You'll get there! I'm cheering for ya!!!

Ashleigh;
I had my surgery on the 9th also and I have only lost 8-9 lbs. I am so gald you made this post. I felt like I have done the surgery in vein. I have been on clear liquids until the 18th and than on all liquids. I go and see the doc. on the 24th. I have drank a few protien shakes but not to many. So I know I am not getting the protien in. There is not much protien in clear liquids. I started water arobics on the 19th but they don't have classes on Friday, Sat or Sun. I went and worked out this morning with my husband in the water. I usually always get my water in + but having a hard time today drinking enough water. I too could use encouragement. I told my son this morning I had only lost 8-9 lbs and he said mom stay off the scales. I guess he is right.
Thanks for listening.
