Hi Jaime, I had surgery 4-29 just a few days before you, and i'm really curious to know what you've been eating for the past week or so. As I said I only had my surgery a few days before you and about a week out I was so weak I could hardly stand and I slept constantly. I called my dr and told him how I was feeling and he told me to go to stage 2 full liquids and my protein drinks. I'm almost 3 weeks out and as of today i'm eating yogart, vienna sausages-chicken, chicken chili, sf fudge pops, cheese, mashed potatoes with cheese of brocolli soup mixed with it, etc. I'm still having problems getting in my liquids and 50 grams of protein in a day but I do my best at this point. I'm also having problems with my bm's getting constipated more than I would like but I think thats just eating too much dairy. If I were you I would call my dr's office and see if you can try some new foods slowly. I know how hard this is and my hubby and son stay away from me when they are eating. Once you can start working alittle more normal food into your diet you won't feel as bad about this you'll see. Just becareful once you do try not to eat too much cause you will be miserable like I was yesterday;) Hope this help and keep your chin up girl it won't be like this much longer and things will be sooooooooooooo much better. Whoa... let me get this straight... Two weeks on clear liquids then four weeks on full liquids?? VERY conservative! My God, I think I'd go nuts. In fact, I am 8 days post-op and still on clear liquids. I have an appt with my surgeon tonight, and I'm sure I'll be graduated to full liquids. But this morning, I couldn't take it anymore. I've had it up to HERE with chicken broth and jello! I was also tired and weak, so I decided to jump the gun -- I had a protein drink for breakfast, then another at lunch. Didn't do a lot for my energy immediately, but at least I felt that I had some nourishment! I would ask your surgeon why such a conservative progression through the stages. I know there are some patients eating soft foods after a week, and every surgeon has his criteria. But if you much put up with 6 weeks of liquid, it would be nice to know why. Good luck! Joe

Jaime I feel for you OMG I have NEVER heard of any Dr putting someone on liquids for 4 weeks. I thought mine was rough, I am on it for 2 weeks, then purees for another 2 then soft for another 2 then real food. But the liquid one has to be the toughest one I think. I liked jello for 3 days now I cant touch it, I started hating chicken broth when I did the ketosis diet so that is out. The only broth I can handle is my own homemade chicken soup. I eat it constantly, without it Id barel get fluids in.I would definitely call and ask why so long ad if you can drink other things. I tried protein shakes and my taste buds have changed so much it tasted like rubbing alcohol I almost Please call hun and get an explanation!!! It cant hurt! Good luck hugssssssssss ~Krista

I understand what you're going through. I was on clear liquids for 10 days and have now advanced to the full liquid diet. It's so hard especially when you watch T.V. and have family around you that have to eat. For the last 10 days I have made my husband eat in his vehicle. He fixes his food and out the door he goes with it. He understands that I can't handle the sight or the smells without either being nauseated (sp.) or hungry. Hang in there Girl!! The road is long but there will be a time in the near future when we can all look at how far we've come and know that it was all worth it. . Jaimie

I AM ON A 6 WEEK FULL LIQUID DIET BECAUSE THE DOC SAYS HE HAS THAT THE STOMACH NEEDS MORE TIME TO RECOUP AND THAT MOST PEOPLE WHO START EATING TO SOON HAVE MORE STOMACH PROBLEMS LATER. ALL I EAT IS CARNATION BREAKFAST, YOGURT, PUDDING AND SOMETIMES TOMATO SOUP. I AM GETTING SICK OF IT. MY LIGHTHEADEDNESS HAS NOT GONE AWAY AND THE DOC HAD ME DO A CBC, BUT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY BLOOD AND THEY DONT KNOW WHY. HE SAYS I DONT NEED MORE PROTIEN OR A B12 SHOT YET SO I AM GETTING SCARED. I HAVENT GOTTEN SICK FROM EATING BUT IF I WALK ALOT OR IM OUT ALL DAY I GET STOMACH PAINS AND I DONT KNOW WHY. I HOPE THIS ALL GOES AWAY SOON. THANKS FOR WRITING ME EVERYONE. JAIME
