Out n doing good
Hello all
Had my surgery on monday the 9th and got out early thursday the 12th.
I started out with laparoscopic RnY surgery but because my liver was still too large my Dr choose to open me up. (I had no problems with this as it was for my saftey being im over 600lbs) He also fixed my hernia in my bellybutton. Other than a sleepy leg from my nausa medication the 1st day, i was up and moving my second day on. To my surprise i have had no nasua, been off the medication since the frist day, and very little pain other than when i lay in bed (only time i take pain killers,) and i feel thats partly due to the hernia recovery.
Anyway Im doing great, taking the new lifestyle one day at a time, finding out what works and what dont. Actually the most painfull things i have to deal with is all the food comercials on TV and smelling the good cooking in the house at dinner time, but thats only in my head
Joe,
Its great to hear that you're doing great! It gets better and better everyday but ever since I've come home from the hospital, its difficult to eat. Sometimes I'll feel hungry and then I'll look in the fridge and nothing is of interest to me.... Oh well, at least it gets better every day right...
Dawn (your surgery buddy across the hall .....)
Congrats on your surgery and great recovery so far! Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment (because I can't be a glutton for food anymore) , but I've been ENJOYING the food commercials, in a twisted sort of way -- even watching the Food Network! (Hey, it's like ***** now, right? You know you can't have a girl like that right now, but you can't help bu****ch.)
I mean face it... those commercials were on all the time before, and you didn't go "Damn, I need that NOW", did you? (At least not most of the time.) No, you said "Damn, that looks good!" And one day, you might go get some. Well, you probably will again, it'll just take a while longer.
Come to terms with food and redefine your relationship with it. I'm trying to do that, and that's part of why I still watch the Food Network. I enjoy cooking, and nothing will stop me from cooking. Just can't eat as much (well, none yet, but things will change).
Best of luck on your journey!
Joe
