How are the May 16-20 Surgery prospects doing?? I'm hanging in there, half excited and half anxious. It's almost here after 6 months of waiting. Keep in touch with your feelings and progress!! My angels will be reporting right after I get out of recovery on May 18. Make sure you have somebody to post for you!! Barb

I am just about 5 days post op and am doing pretty good. The surgery itself was a breeze, not too much pain afterward. The PCA was great. The swallow test after was the hardest part. Made me a bit nauseous but I think it was cuz I drank it too fast. Came home in 2 days and had a bit of trouble yesterday with gas pains but that is better today since I stayed away from milk. So far tolerating what I need to on the full liquids but tough to get it all in in a day. Taking pain med about 3 times a day to stay ahead of the pain.

I'm ready!!!!! I'm excited, anxious yet very calm about the whole thing. I firmly believe this is what I must do. I'll try to get hubby to come on and post a post-op message or one of my VA buddies. Best wishes for your surgery! Kathy

I'm ready to go. We're having my oldest's birthday tomorrow instead of Tuesday, so I can have cake!!! I bought enough jello, popcicles, chicken broth, etc... to last me my liquid phase of two weeks. I forgot to get my post op medications filled today so I'll have to do that Monday. But I'm feeling good (won't go near anyone who might possibly be sick!!!!) and enjoying these last few days before surgery. Funny thing is though, I'm not piggy out on food!!! I'm actually very selective in what I'm eating right now. I've had my last steak for a while, and I'm really wanting a large order of nacho's will all the fixings. But as far as sugar goes, I'm not finding myself eating it because I won't be able to after!!! Blessing to everyone having surgery this coming week!!!!! May we all be complication FREE and doing the bariatric shuffle as soon as possible!!!!!

Hi Barb I am home from the hospital 2 days and every day gets a little better. You will probably breeze thru this My prayers will be with you. I am one of the ones that seem to be in more pain than some of the others that I have been readying about. I know they say walk walk walk but finally got something that helps with the pain so i started today walking more. None of the meds in the hospital did anything for me but give me the shakes and that in turn made my tummy muscles tighted and made the pain more . I am just one of those cases that I have a funny tolerane to anythnig. Doing great now tho the more I sit and type the more I feel better. HUGSSSSS Nancy

Barbara, My thoughs and prayers are with you. I know you will do great. I am doing so much better than I anticipated, hardly any pain in the hospital after the first day and night, then it just seemed like muscle pain. Today can hardly feel anything. Just keep positive thoughts and can't want to hear from your angels on your recovery. Patti

barb, i am 5 days post op today! i can totally understand the emotions that your going thru. i didn't know if i should be scared to death or super excited...therefore i was a little bit of both. the night before my surgery i had a good conversation with my hubby about being scared of the actual surgery and hospital, and also mourning the loss of food as my crutch. i also knew thru my anxiety that i had already decided that the wls was the best thing for me or i wouldn't be doing all this in the firstplace. i went into the hospital with a suprised calmness. the surgery went fine. i don't remember anything between being wheeled into the operating room and waking up in recovery. the pain meds are GOOD! what was i worried about?! good luck to you! much love, amy
