Early May babies, please check in!
Hello!
I had WLS(LAP RNY) on Wed, May 4 and was released on Friday, May 6. No pain, I only stayed on the pain meds while in the hospital. When I was released to go home, I really didn't have any pain. The surgery went VERY well no complications or set backs. I'm on stage two Pureed foods, all of my foods stays down well, I do notice that whatever that I eat or drink, my stomach talks back. I tried mashed potatoes this weekend, for the first time since WLS, and they were GREAT. Head Hunger is something else, really. I had my first check-up afte WLS last Wed, and I had last 20lbs which was very unbelievebale.
Heh, I'm Ali. I am 11 days post op and doing great! My doc wants us on all clear liquid for the first 14 days, but on day 9 I got crazed enough to cave and try something from the next level. (Also, I gag on all the protein shakes, mixes, isopure that I've tried, so I was worried about not getting in any protein.) So far I've tried mozzarella cheese, scrambled egg, yogurt, AND mac-n-cheese (not on next level) and strawberries (also not on next level.) I'm careful to try just a few bites and then wait for twenty minutes or so to see if I will dump. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS! No dumping, no tummy ache, and I feel much better now that I'm getting in protein. I'd rather eat 2 oz. of mozzarella cheese than choke down half an isopure, and the protein grams are the same.
As for activity, once I got that drain tube out of me, I felt more energy, and now especially with my protein I feel even better. I'm gardening, and playing with the kids, and walking some (it's hard for me because of knee pain due to BEING SO OVERWEIGHT.) Sometimes, in the house, I just all of a sudden do some jumping jacks or skip rope for a couple minutes. Or seconds, I can't tell. ;)
Hi, I had my open RNY on May 5. I'm feeling great. I did have 2 days of horrible nausea but my doctor put me on Reglan which really helped. I am only doing clear and full liquids. I drink water and the protein shake and that's about it so far... and popsicles... except I have to hide when I eat them because my kids think it's not fair. I think we need to come up with a high protein popsicle. I have lost 19 pounds so far according to my scale. I don't know where it's all going. Good luck to everyone and I hope your all feeling good.
Love,
Christy Leigh
May 9, Open RNY
Released from hospital May 11th. I haven't even looked at the scale-really!!!!
I am on a soft diet and have been since mid-day day 2. Everyone said I am doing great but really not feeling as well today, lots of incision pain. I think I may have overdone it a bit yesterday. I am eating pretty well but nausous in the morning and lots of saliva and gurgeling. I think I actually pushed it tonight on food, tried mashed potatoes, yummy!!!!!! (Put it on a plate instead of a ramekin!!!)
I need to walk more times shorter distances, I pushed it yesterday on one big walk. I am tired of feeling a bit helpless and REALLY ready to be able to put on my own panties!!!!
Really tired of sitting my big butt in the recliner!!!
OH well today makes 7 days and I am sure it will be better than day 6!!!!
May 2 - laproscopic RNY
Was in the hospital until 5/5. Just wrote a piece last night about how I am doing. Some days are much worse than others. Get cold easily, but my pain meds make me feel very warm when I first take them. Having dumping issues, so putting myself back on a mostly liquid diet.

I'm also exhausted and still having lots of abdominal pain. Getting my gallbladder out was a lot of work (was wrapped in my liver) so my insides still feel sore and sometimes scrambled.
Anyway, I'm here. Sort of.
Early May Baby here also. Had my surgery on May 4th and came home on May 6th. As far as doing well I believe I am doing exceptionally well. Drove myself back to Atlanta (3hr drive) for my post-op checkup. Lost 11 lbs that first week. Have not weighed since. Trying to wait at least a week between weigh ins. Returned to work exactly 8 days out of surgery. Energy level is a little off but otherwise I feel fantastic. Working hard to get the fluids in.. That is a constant battle with me..
