I'm Home too :-)
Hi everyone,
I actually got home on May 8 but havn't been able to get on the computer so I'm sorry I havn't updated or sent any messages. Everything went well, my surgery was on May 5. I did end of getting real sick and throwing up a lot of Blood so they did some extra testing and kept me an extra day. There were only 2 of us bariatric patients on the bariatric floor so we had wonderful nursing care. I'm feeling good except for some Nausea. It's hard to get the protein down which is something I hear all the time. Thanks for all the updates. It's so nice to have people to chat with that are going through the same thing. Keep in touch

Glad surgery went good and that you are doing well. Keeping you extra day was good to make sure you were okay. That's behind you now. Glad nursing staff was awesome. That is SOOOOO important. If you are having nausea, maybe you are drinking/eating too fast. Are you using a baby spoon. Remember, treat your body like it's a newborn baby. Baby it. Give it a minute between bites - no matter how small the bites/sips are! Hang in there!!
You won't be able to get ALL the protein in that your dr recommends because you are so new out of surgery. I was freaking out my first few weeks thinking - OMG, I'm nowhere near 70-100g of protein!! Dietician, surgeon and support buddies online told me to chill The first few weeks you just need to get in what you can - your body is healing from MAJOR surgery. So do not freak out or worry about getting in TONS of protein right now. Your focus should be on protein, yes, but get in what you can stomach right now. You'll build up to the goals per day later! Trust me!
Keep us posted on your progress! Welcome home!
